Greetings Members-

Just wanted to start my membership as I have on all the other ones I am on- by saying hello and introducing myself to you guys!
Happend to start my new hobby of knife collecting and admiration, so I sought out some of the best Forums to join to obtain advice and info on everything I can ya know? As a former Cop (as well as a Marine who Retired in 2005 after one tour in Iraq-which was all it took to screw me up for life!) I am partial to the Auto Openers / OTF blades more than any. However, I've owned my share of MANY folders and fixed blades in my day as well. As a matter of fact, without getting into all the graphic details (Yet anyway until I feel comfortable with it) it was a knife that actually and literally saved my life in Iraq while doing Cordon & Knock Operations and was jumped from behind in a dark room alone where no one, including myself, couldn't shoot the POS - thus I thank the Knife Gods that I had one fixed to my Tac Vest which I used to help get the guy off me, nearly decapitating the guy in the process! However, I absolutely had no choice in this and wouldn't be here to write this today if I didn't have that blade to save my life! (Can you believe that I even told the specific story to the Manufacturer as more of a "Thank You" than anything and it barely got any form of response whatsoever??) This is why I shall never buy one of their products again folks! Sheer disbelief on the level of gratitude and interest I received after telling this extremely personal story on true life in combat!!

So here I am my friends, anxious to read all these reviews, discussions, and see what I can pick up from you all in the future too. Based on what I have seen thus far and even posted myself in a few threads, I am impressed by the membership and hope things remain cordial and friendly among everyone. One of my Ducati forums is nothing but Ego Maniacs putting others down and starting arguments with the rest of the guys - which I absolutely despise!
Matter of fact, this link will explain a bit more on who I am and the conditions which now prevent me from MANY things I used to enjoy in life. Racing motorcycles being one of them - and anyone into the same may enjoy the pics of the only bike i have left, which is more or less a Show Bike only with about 10k in modifications and such. Lastly, what I incurred on April 14th, 2004 has truly ruined me for life as I recently had to undergo 5 surgeries alone in the month of this past December! And that, was after the 10 previous ones within the last year alone! So anyone here with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Cervical Spine Damage, PTSD and a myriad of other injuries (mine sustained by a massive IED blast while inside a Humvee) then you know what I am talking about!
This is the article I was speaking of done by a Co who HEAVILY donated to my special Show Bike build project.

- Benchmade Auto Side Opener Auto Stryker
- Benchmade Mini Infidel
- Benchmade Auto 3150BK Impel
- Microtech Navy Seal Scarab
- Microtech Ultratech Spartan Carbon Fiber OTF

On The Way

- Microtech UTX-70
- Microtech UTX-85
- Microtech Combat Troodon
- RavenCrest RCT-1 Custom (Yeah I know the reviews on this place and items, but had to see for myself since 20% off was too good to pass) :thumbdn:
- And anything else I can pick up as a great knife from all you members here! :)

Since I cannot enjoy those previous hobbies I loved, I pick up these newer " Hobbies" such as Knife Collecting, and before that Watch Collecting. My daily watch is a MTM Titanium Vulture and since I love it so much I bought the same thing in Black too! The rest of my watches are below:

- MTM Vulure
- MTM Falcon
- Reactor LE Poseidon
- Reactor Meltdown (Carbon Fiber Galore & For Sale!)
- Casio Pathfinder (which I actually used to call in artillery in Iraq using compass!)
- Typical Ironman Rubber model
- Citizen Eco-Drive Promaster Dive Watch
- Tissot T-Touch
- Le Chateau Chrono Model 5404M (looking to sell)

Thanks for taking me in as part of the group and Im anxious to start checking out the info in here!

PS. I was going to post a bunch of pics BEFORE & AFTER the IED but guess I am not allowed to do so until so many posts on here - correct?

Welcome to BladeForums!

Great selection so far. Since you like autos, I'd recommend giving Protechs a look. Check out the TR-4, TR-3, Rockeye, and CQC 7. I think they might be up your alley. However, you wont be disappointed with whichever you choose.

If you have an interest in manual folding knives, I'd recommend an Emerson. Or Spyderco, ZT, even a Protech manual. Lots to choose from.

As far as pictures, all you have to do is upload them to a free photo hosting site (i use Photobucket) and then copy and paste the IMG links provided.

If you have a paid membership you can upload pictures directly from your computer.

Again, welcome and enjoy!

Welcome to BF Gunny, and thank you for your service!!!

Pix - You have to upload and host the pictures at a photo hosting site, then use the picture icon in the editor to add them to your posts. Only paid members can upload pictures directly to BF, but they need to be quite small. I'd add Flickr to the photo hosting options benchwarmer380 recommended. I like them because they give you 1Tb of picture hosting space for free.

If you get hungry for some fixed blade goodness to add to your collection, be sure to drop by the Darkside of BF (Busse Combat Forum ;) ) lots of action going on with literally a new knife offered every week right now.

I live in SoCal, so no Auto's for me. Next best I can do is flippers and I'm REALLY into Ferrum Forge right now.

Welcome to BladeFourm's, Brendan. More importantly, thank you very much for your heroic, patriotic service to our Country.

I clicked on, & read the link that you pasted in your OP. That is a stunning custom Ducati, that you guys built! That's an amazing story: how Brock Performance & all of the companies assisted in making this dream project of yours, become a reality.

Good to have you here Top. Another Devil Dog to help keep em sharp. Welcome, brother.

Welcome to the forum!

Nice selection of knives, and it's hard to beat the sounds of a Ducati....One of my friends used to have (might still have) a John Player Special. I was more of a Harley guy, but I have always had a hankerin' for a desmo....

As far as the egos and bickering, you'll see that here as in any very large forum. There are the folks here that will jump on pile and roll around in it, but that is easily avoided with judicious use of the ignore button OR just ignoring it completely.

Glad to have you aboard, SIR!

best
