My frame locked CQC-14

This one is the favorite of my Emersons. I find this one the most comfortable in my hand. I enjoy shorter blades, and I love the idea of the shorter blade with a hand filling grip.
Started as a stock CQC-14. Now has a titanium frame lock, titanium backspacer titanium bolster, and custom titanium liner with contoured safety orange G-10 scales. Mayo style holes are drilled in the frame lock and blade has been given a satin finished as well as all the hardware.

DH, all of these you have posted this evening are stunning but this one is my favorite! Mostly its my favorite Emerson anyway because Harry, the man that came up with the idea and presented it to Ernie is my best friend, but also because I too love the handle and really take to smaller blades myself.

You don't cover as much of the details as I like though. Tell us the stock thickness of the titanium, and if you know, how much weight did your knife lose to drill the holes in it? I've considered the advantage of this also but didn't see the kind of weight loss I had hoped for in others.

I'd be curious to know what you used to cut the traction grooves also as well as if you did the conversions and spacers yourself or had them done. If you did em you been a busy guy!

When I measured the spacers in most of the EKIs I have they are .190 or better so thats some thick stuff to make. Is that ti also?

Sorry for all the questions, just curious really. Anyway, super job! More more more! :D

Thanks Steve for the complements!
Sorry ,not my work though. Only thing I do that's even close to modifying a knife is sharpening the blade! LOL! So I'm not able to answer all of your questions. But here's to answer a few.
The frame side is .125" titanium. The G-10 and the bolsters started at .125 as well before the contouring.
The knife did gain some weight over the stock, but not by much at all. Sorry, can't answer about how much weight was lost from the holes. They're there more for aesthetic purposes.

Has to be some of Ferrrk's classy work then. The spacers kind of have his signiture but I couldn't be sure, actually I'm still not but they are pretty much what I used to see on 'the other forum'.

Mine so far have all been .160 thickness and just that alone can get heavy. Its about the only draw back really but they are stout and strong and certainly better than the the liner lock either way. The 13 I did was a super knife also and I have to admit I like it as a frame lock better than the 12 mostly due to the handle ergos but it seems the blade was a tad more sexy also on that one. I also like that you kept the liner under the non lock side. Thats a good move in my opinion even if it does add some weight overall.

Ferrrk's work rocks. Love it.

That is one heckuva framelocked 14. Now all it needs it a zero edge.

DH,
Now do somethin like that to a HD-7. The satin blades give those knives a classier and, believe it or not, tougher look about them. Thanks for the great pics!

Simply sweet CQC-14 I wish Emerson knives would make a frame locked version of this as well, I do like shorter blades since they feel more easier to move with and use for almost any task but I never got the CQC-14 mainly because I didn't want a shorter blade at the time. Fantastic work! :D

I sent an email to Emerson about a week ago encouraging them to do the CQC-14 in a frame lock. They thanked me for my note and said they are always considering options. Maybe you should send an email too.

:)

I have also been trying to get to Ferrrk on another thread about the frame locked commander. The other guy that Ferrrk helped out was going to get some contact info. But I did notice the back spacer with the V looking shape and I wondered the same thing until you confirmed that it was from Ferrrk. The knife looks good though.
