I have to tell this story because it's so special I just can't not do it.
A good while back I forged a small neck knife for Bill. He and I developed a good friendship in the bfc chat room over a period of time. One night the discussion went in my direction on the topic of knives. I don't recall exactly what was discussed but the long and short of it was I decided to make him a neck knife. Bill's a real nice guy and I'm proud to call him my friend. He didn't really order a knife. I just decided to forge one up for him. I do that now and then just because and it feels good to give a gift to someone I think alot of. Bill fits that description.
So I forged up the knife and sent it to him. He really loved it. Posted pics of it here on the forum and yakked it up about what a nice fellow I was and all. I'm really a peckerwood but don't tell Bill
Like I said, that was a while ago and I'd almost forgotten the whole deal. Out of the blue Bill emails me asking me for my mailing address. Said he was sending me something. No big deal. Just a little something. Hmmm..... What could it be? I'm thinking. I love surprises. And boy did he ever surprise me. Like he said, it was no big deal. But when I got it today it really tickled me and made me realize what a special fellow old Bill is. He sent me probably his most favorite things. A six pack of beer (don't tell the USPS) and a wonderful cigar! The beer is just a local beer that he can get where he lives in Wisconsin. Point Special Premium Lager Beer. A whole six pack! And a cigar in an aluminum tube lined with basla wood! A Portofino Macanudo Robust. Now, I'm no cigar officionado but this is about the best cigar I've ever smoked. I'm smoking it right now while drinking that six pack and having a shot of Claymore scotch. It just don't get any better than this.
This may not be the best place to post this but it's the best idea I had. I just wanted to say thanks to a real friend in a public way. Thanks Bill. I'm enjoying your 'no big deal' gift. Now, I'm wondering what kind of knife Bill would like next. Heck, I need the practice Bill. Help me out here...
