My GEC 735109L is Back

Hello everyone!

My GEC is back from the states.

Anyway this is completely new knife. No gaps, really stiff back spring... Everything were fixed and this knife is bank vault solid. There's perhaps minor side to side but I'll fix that the usual way. I am really satisfied what GEC did for it. Blade is centered, Liner engages, back spring is noticably more stiff. Liner doesn't rub against the blade. Blade is dead center.

And then comes my rant part:

I delivered all the purchase documents, invoices and everything for the custom's as custom's stopped this knife. As I bought it in Finland... I had paid VAT 23% already. Which translates roughly 28€'s in price.

Now custom's deliver's a bill: 50€ bill. 14,43€'s for handeling, 4,10€ duty fee's and 27,94€'s of VAT 23% again. So this no good high way robbers working for custom's want me to pay VAT twice!!

True, there's no high way robber's in this country. Hasn't been since civil war but I think they just got new job at custom's and IRS. So basically the price I pay with this knife grand total I could get two GEC's, thanks to these high way brigands... Anyway before I pay the bill, I just check matter that can they lawfully charge VAT twice from same product.

Still, my darling GEC is back. Wonderful knife. Just wait till I upload pictures. I'll phone few places while grinding my teeths.

Glad you got your knife back. I am appalled that you had to pay any duties or tax on what you already owned. Heck, GEC should have even paid return shipping. After all, if they had built it correctly to start with, it wouldn't have had to go back. The world is a screwy place at times.

i'm sorry y0u had to go thru so much aggravation & injustice from adminitrative channels. this isnt fair for a person whom was only trying to obtain a product on the market. i'm really chagrined that my lack of international commerce prevented me from assisting you in this manner. jampa i welcome all personal messages that could assit in subverting these injustices, perhaps we can arrange other methods to expedtite future arrangements. we need to tread lightly since the regulations on this planet exceed the human population.dennis i've only received one knife that i have considered substandard for gec products& ca'nt complain sice no endevor can achive 100%,. any way in the quantity i purchase thier knifes this one can be pushed into hard service since that is a stellar attribute of which gec excells. any assistace i can offer will be gladly tendered.

Lookin good!!!! Glad everything from the knife side of your issures has been corrected. Sorry to hear about the problems with VAT and duty charges.
 
Jani, I'm glad you got a good knife returned to you for all the effort you expended...and sorry to hear of your travail.

However, let's keep the discussion (for this sub-forum) centered on the knife itself and leave the debate regarding customs, government policy, VAT and other issues to the "Political" or "Current Events" sections of this site. (Not that I don't sympathize totally.)
 
Very good knife indeed. I've been carrying it all day. Its bit hefty and big but still very pocketable. This is my first nearly nail breaker... Not to mention yellow bone matches my yellow cell phone nicely.

Thanks for sympathation. Its only money... Anyway thanks everyone! GEC #2 in home safe and sound, though I need to pay ransom.

Gotta love that yellow bone. I guess those of us that live here in the states, take for granted the ease of which we can return things.
The main thing is, you sound like your happy with the knife and GEC took care of you :thumbup:
 
Im Rapt that they fixed the knife so well for you... I know what its like to go through hassles with the incoming blades!!
