red kershaw blur (13c26n) plain edge. I love every aspect of the knife from the handle and the comfort, to the edge itself and the AO. My only concern is hurting it! It means enough to me that she would go pick one out, especially since she knows i bought one before (but returned it) and liked it. I carry a benchmade griptilian 551 P.S. along with a swisschamp and swisstool normally. But i've had this knife since february and have not used it once. She went with my mom and picked it out for my birthday present. I feel bad for not using it but knowing nothing about the blade material, craftsmanship of the knife itself and kershaw as a company (im a big benchmade/spyderco/victorinox fan) i don't want to ruin the knife or damage it because as of right now it's in good shape lol. I'm all about using knives but i just cant bring myself to do it, i'm afraid of chipping an edge or tip. Call me paranoid... Anyways, whats your guys opinion on the knife? Can it handle daily use? Anyone who owns one want to chime in on how yours has held up? It's a great knife to play with and is crazy comfortable. I like kershaw knives but this is my first kershaw i've had bought for me.

i know exactly how you feel my girlfriend got me some kind of nameless folder for my birthday and i was afraid to mess it up to. but when she saw that i hadnt used it she got all offended haha its a lose lose situation.

Pretty much! It's like do you use it and make them happy but upset yourself when it comes back chipped and dinged or ugly or do you put your mind at ease and just not use it. I won't carry something i'm not going to use it's a waste of space and i'd love to carry it but i need some reassurance. It's a hard thing to love knives.

Haha it's on me now but she says "you always carry it but never use it and switch back to the griptilian" lol. I just don't want to ruin the thing! Thanks for the link, i was on there earlier. I was looking for user feedback more or less.

Just use it man, it can take it. :D

I EDC'd a blur for over 1.5 years. They can take it just fine. No change/keys in the same pocket, no extreme prying, and no cutting sheet metal and you'll be fine.

I'm sure a blur could hang with a gripper. I have a blur in s30v and it is wicked, although I haven't used it hard. I love BM too. Kershaw makes an amazing knife for the money though. Use it!

Kershaws are pretty tough and well built knives ! Not to mention excellent customer service if somthing did happen to it!!

I've used one off and on ( I have too big of a EDC collection) for about 5 years now it's held up great. That Blur will take any reasonable cutting task you can throw at it. The 13C26 will take a crazy sharp edge and keep it for a while, and it's easy to resharpen. The knife was made to be a user. So use it and brag about it around your girl friend and you'll both be happy.

You should see my Sebenzas. Handles scuffed, blades scratched. The Blur was also made for work, look at the thick handle and broad blade. They look better used.

I agree along with the knife gurus who already posted. I have 2 Blurs and I love 'em. Great knife from a great company. Use the crap out of it, and if it wears out that's a good excuse to by another one.

That's how I felt about the Santa Fe Stoneworks Delica that my girlfriend bought me last Christmas. It's a gorgeous knife, and therein lies the problem. It's too nice to carry everyday.

So just do what I do, when it's time to dress up, just carry the gift knife. I'll usually wear it to social gatherings or special dinners, since most if any cutting I would be doing at those places is light duty.

I have one, I like it alot and I use it alot. That's what it's for! It's not a knife that needs to be babied.

My wife unknowingly outbid me before Christmas and won my Kershaw 1725CB JYDII out from under me. I ended up bidding more for a special version of the same knife that was a second or blem. Christmas was great - I got hers, too - and it's in my display case as a backup. I carry the second/blem.

She tries to outguess me - case in point, my recent return to Benchmade resulted in my desiring either a 710 D2 or a 760BK LTi. While on the Gulf Coast some months ago, her favorite vacation spot, my birthday resulted in a great seafood dinner - and that 710 D2! What a sweetie. I had saved money - no souvenirs - even came out of St. Nick's Knives in Foley empty handed - intent on getting that 710. Instead, I had enough for the 760 - and she gave me that 710! Similarly, I wanted either a BM 615 or a 420 a few days back - both were 'retired' - and at good prices. I opted for the 420 Resistor - and she gave me the 615 when I got home, having bought it for my Christmas. I guess she spent her mad money. She is a keeper - but I knew that fifteen years ago, when we were 'dating' - I had mentioned how I always wanted a Ruger Old Army, a black powder cap&ball revolver, in SS - I had CS clones decades earlier. This thoughtful young woman bought me the ROA, caps, balls, powder, and accessories. She was - and is - a keeper. When someone you are dating pays that close attention to your hobby interests, she is a keeper. We've been married 10.5 yr.

Now, look below:

The green Scallion was my first Kershaw EDC - it rode in watch pockets - alone - for ~6 yr when this picture was taken. The red Scallion was an EDC - with keys & change - for 5+ yr. The Spyderco was ~6 mos old here, as was the Damascus Leek. The other Kershaws work fine - and their 440A steel is kept sharp with a Sharpmaker. The most wear is evidenced on the red Blur - the older style - and initially very rough - skateboard tape is worn smooth - and the red anodizing worn through in places, too. Both work great - except that the Scallion is still gritty. I had used it to trim a pinhole leak from a water sevice line to the house in the bottom of a 2 ft deep hole in the yard. It was getting dark - and I buried it with the hose! I couldn't find it in my pockets or the house, and the morning light found me digging it up. Dissassembly/cleaning/reassembly took some time. It was worth it. They are great knives.

Really??

You use the hell out of that thing, or give it to someone that will. Seriously.

They are god knives.
