My "Go to" shotty

My "Go to" shotty is a remmy 870 12Ga. with a hastings slug barrel and a 4X scope.

Here is my prob.

My PERFECT barrel for the beast would be a SMOOTH bore slug barrel, so i could shoot shot out of it with better results, a theraded choke tube so I could fit a breacher choke, AND a cantilever mount so I could fit a holosight.

Any ideas?

Remington makes a 21" barrel that's threaded, I get good results shooting Foste slugs through an IC choke.

I don't know of any smoothbores with cantilevered mounts. But if you're using a holosight and not a telescope, a Picatinny rail mounted on the receiver should work OK.
 
Yes, I have been thinking about that barrel. you pointed it out to me before. It is the closest I know of.

I would really prefer the CL mount, but you may have the closest match.

I have a problem like yours with my mossy 835 I have a 26" "field" barrel and I want both a rifled barrel with rifle sites not a cantalever (my receiver is tapped) and I want a smoothbore for HD as the field barrel is way long .I have found many good deals for 870 barrels look around online and you can find anything you want ,I think I might be screwed until summer money starts comeing in.:(
 
Dixie Slugs used to make some good smooth bore slugs Heavy ones, you might check them out.
 
Mine is an older Benelli Nova Tactical model.
Cylinder bore, no threads for chokes, with ghost ring rear and rifle front sights.

Why not have one made??

Get a Smooth bore barrel, cut to 18", and have a good Smithy Thread a choke and add a Cantilever base...

May cost you a bit,, but Problem Solved...

I was not sure what the heck a 'shotty' was. I just call them shotguns myself.

Remington 870 is fairly ubiquitous so far as defense use goes. I have an old Wingmaster, with a factory Remington 20 inch open choke, rifle sight barrel.
Does everything a fellow could ask.

My got to shotgun is my Mossberg 590. 20" barrel , 8 shot tube, cylinder bore.

Its one hell of an ass shredding machine.
 
Remington used to make a 20" cantilever smooth barrel with the Rem choke for the 870. I know this because I have one. I think it is called a "special purpose" barrel. I love mine for deer hunting with Brenneke style slugs. I bought mine at a Bass Pro Shop on the clearance rack about 5 years ago.

I just checked remington's website and didn't see it listed but they do have still make it for the 11-87.
 
I think the closest I can do is the remchoke short barrel with rifle sights, then get a scope mount that mounts on the receiver.


They have one that comes with a rifled choke and an IC choke for about $225

Then buy the breacher choke and holosight.

Now I wonder if I could craft a choke holder that fits INSIDE the butt plate? that would be very cool.
