My family went on a camping/fishing trip (just got back) and the fillet knife my brother had available was simply not cutting it (pun intended).

Reach to the pocket, and get to work. I must have filleted 30 fish with the Military. Not the greatest knife for the task, but it did just fine. Heading out to the fish fry now...

The military is an awesome knife, I wish there would be a version in H1, that would be my end all knife...

I love that Millie too!

could your cutting problems have anything to do with the narrow working surface? it's easy to be able to rotate and re-orient the "work" during fine cutting.

Possibly. It would be safe to say we were not as prepared as we could have been.

I'd suggest that the board was not nearly as much of a problem as the blade length. I could have really enjoyed a 9 inch blade...but they do not pocket well;)
