...to paraphrase that guy from "2001: A Space Odyssey".

Stars I got. Awesome custom knives, not so much. These are my second and third customs after buying a Scott Hurst D2 Tanto this fall. I stumbled across Daniel Fairly's work by googling something like "D2 Tanto", and found the green and black wrapped one from his website. It was one of those moments, like meeting the woman you know you're going to marry. Or, like getting hit on the head with a fist-sized rock.

But I repeat myself. Either way, I knew I was going to have to own something from his shop.

I'm only just beginning to get it- for the same price, and often considerably less than a factory knife, you can own something with infinitely more quality, aesthetic beauty, character, and value than a factory knife. I've got some nice (or so I thought) Benchmades, and stuff like that- what a joke. I'm hooked, guys...and maybe the smartest thing I did was put myself on Daniel's folder list. I don't usually jump at the chance to spend that kind of scratch on a pocket knife, but I jumped on it just because if the knife wound up being even a tenth as cool as any of his others, it'd be a huge score.

Speaking of cool, Stabby-San, and Stabby-San II (Son Of Stabby-San. All named by my smartass girlfriend) are only about 15 times as cool as I'd hoped they'd be. Here they are with some Japanese ingredients from my work kitchen-

And yes- they are being propped up by lumps of Wasabi.

No they aren't. But they should be. ;)

And Daniel, I can't thank you enough for these- for selling them to me, and also for abiding my incessant pestering. Nor can I describe the simply immense pride I have in holding in my hands a piece of work by a master craftsman. I'm just blown away.

Edited to add:

Look at the hamon on this bad motorfinger!

Welcome to the forum! Btw, if you think you're hooked now.....wait till you hold one of Daniel's larger blades. Take a look at the pic thread if you haven't already.

Edit: I see you've already posted in the pic thread.
