Yep, pitdog, it looks great. I have an order placed for one and I will want the walnut scales too.

Great job by both you and Scott.
:)

The roach belly is a great design. I can't afford a custom one, but I have a cold steel version that makes a great skinner.

Oh, man - that looks like a terrific slicer and an all-around great trail knife. I'm sure it feels nice in the hand.

Still, we won't know for sure until we see some in-use pics that incorporate a fire, a hot beverage, and the dogs. ;)

All the best,

- Mike

That is great looking blade:D Now we need to see an action shot to show just how useful that design is.

The historical Roach Belly knife was a short blade with a pronounced upswept curve and a sharp point. It was most likely named after the common Roach Fish, which had a similarly round curving belly. It was known in 17th century Britain and quite common in the American Colonies because it was inexpensive and versatile.

First google result.

Personally I would do this to it.

Huh? I hope you didn't take that in some wrong way, I was just crediting the source.

That's his sense of humor Marcelo, Don't worry about him taking it the wrong way.

Poor bastid has to read it three times, just to understand it;)

Congrats on the great knife Pit!

Personally I would do this to it.

The hump at the front gives a place to rest the finger against when skinning and helps stop any jagged bones catching your finger !

Also Scott didn't want anyone copying existing blades so I had to make it slightly different from a standard Roach Belly !

Anyway I like the hump !!!:p

Reminds me of the Marbles woodcraft design, except of instead of a finger guard it uses the rear of the blade as a guard.
I think it's good that someone is making a blade that isn't a "Tactical Combat" design for a change. Good going!!
