So after more than a year from design ideas to emails to paper drawings I mailed to Bruce finally (and this is in no way a knock on Bruce we took months to nail down all the design aspects then added the piggy back knife idea and that took more months there were also material changes and I also told Bruce the whole time to work on it when he could in his spare time cause I had health probs and money was tight and I was in no rush so I told him to take his time no worries) my dream knife is complete! Here is a link to the original thread with drawings - http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...Woods-Sword-Not-sure-what-to-call-this-design

I have had this idea germinating in the back of my mind for decades I have always wanted the knife/machete/short sword from the movie Predator. Ever since I first saw the movie as a teenager. As you know the maker of those knives made very few of them and they rarely come up for sale and when they do they are beyond my means.

Also there are some changes I would make to the knife if it was mine. So I have toyed with the idea of my own version of this knife for a lonnnng time. Drawn design after design and picture after picture never really thinking I would be able to have it made for me. Until I saw Bruce's work and then bought a chopper from him. Having that chopper really got the fires burning on getting my dream knife done because I knew I had found the man who could do it. And not only the knife but also the sheath since such a special knife would need a special sheath and Bruce's sheaths are just as awesome as his knives.

In early posts here about the knife and what to call it someone more clever than me, Kemsat-survival said call it the HFK - Huge F@#$ing Knife - which I thought was awesome! So here it is the Culberson HFK all that is left is Bruce ran out of dye while making the leather baldric that will hold the sheath (you didn't think I'd strap it to my belt did ya?)

People have Go bags this will be my Go knife, pouch on the sheath and some small Maxped type pouches attached to the baldric will contain first aid and survival gear for the eventual Zombie Apocalypse ;) I can't wait to stroll into camp for the annual Memorial Day weekend white water canoe/camping trip with all the guys and see their faces when they see this puppy.

Blade is a tad over 18" handle is 11" made with 3/16th thick 5160. 2/3 of the back and the swedge will be sharpened, but not slice like the main blade the back and swedge have a steeper grind more like an axe. Black micarta handles. I believe the piggyback knife is of the same materials. I just told Bruce to make something to match the HFK so that knife is all his idea.

To The Apocalpyse! And Beyond!

Very nice. It's big, and mean, without being tacticool.

Sorry took me a bit to get the pics figured out they should all be there now and I added some specs.

Fantastic piece, and congratulations to you and Bruce. Nice to see a man's dream come to fruition.

Nicely executed concept akthor. The three units come together to form a very impressive package. Now you get to carry it with PRIDE.

Having held this blade in my hands I can tell you it is one mean mutha. Nice work as alwas Bruce!
Darcy:)

It's actually more useful than you think I designed the handle to be able to use a two handed grip thus lopping off the heads of zombies will be MUCH easier and I can cut my sandwiches in half with the smaller knife ;)

While not something I would ever use I must admit it look pretty darn cool :)

LOL I didn't wanna go splashin your mug all over figured your wife wouldn't want all sorts of groupies showing up ;)
