My grail knife mystery (e ivory presidential)

I recently got a northwoods presidential in ebony, I had been looking at them for a long time as some of my favorite knives are the 98 Texas knives. I love the flat bolsters and the angles of the covers, they’re just too large to carry on a daily basis. Enter the presidential basically the same style but 3/4 of an inch shorter, perfect carry size. It’s an awesome knife and I’m very please with it. The only flaw has a flip side which is beneficial, the small wharncliffe blade is not the smoothest when it’s being shut as the blade starts to shut and them snaps past halfway (there’s no half stops so it should be smooth) and then can be shut the rest of the way. The flip side of this is that the pull from open is so strong that it is what causes it to snap as it is shutting so the blade is less likely to shut accidentally. Anyway enough of why I like the knife and on to the mystery. The story (from one of Derrick’s videos or the website) I can’t remember which is that it is named the presidential due to the fact that it is the first knife he was unable to sell with elephant ivory covers due to the executive order banning elephant ivory sales. It’s an easy story to take at face value especially since when you look at Great Easterns production totals for that year, 2014, elephant ivory presidentials do not show up and presidentials don’t show up on any other year at all. However if you google search Northwoods Presidential elephant ivory there are pictures of elephant ivory presidentials for sale on KSF’s website and at least one factory second as well. So my question, as I have wanted a knife in elephant ivory and like the presidential so much is, are there any out there? Does anyone know how many were made or should I not waste my time as the 3 that are pictured are the only ones that there are? Any information would be appreciated. I know I could probably call Knives ship free but I think there are people here who have better info than they do anyway. Thanks

If I remember correctly, right before the ban Derrick sent the rest of his ivory stash to gec. They put together some " part knives" . Maybe your knife was part of that . I regret passing on the few 25's that were made .

That would make sense, I’d sure love to get my hands on one.

Nice looking knives, and a great pattern! Good luck with your search, that would be a keeper for sure if you can find one or get it made.
