No idea the mfg of these small folders but they both belonged to my grandmother who died in 1987.
The one on the right was a gift from my grandfather after they married in the 20's and the other appears to be Mother of Pearl.
No special value except sentimental but I thought I would show them.

Awesome. My grandfather had a few that are at my parents house now. I'll have to remember to look next time I go there. My dad has their old guns too.

That's a great litte pearl pen you have there, in nice shape. Is the tang marked with a makers/merchant mark? The other looks like a Hammer/Imperial knife, it will likely be marked at the tang.

Best regards

Robin

Beautiful. Wonderful stories as well. I am interested to see who the maker is in the right side knife. I agree that it appears to be an Imperial, likely from the 50s, but that doesn't jive with your timeline.

Finally got it cleaned up and used my loupe. No maker's mark but it is marked "Pat. Nos. 2119587," then another number I can't read for the bolster.

Quite a coincidence, I was looking at a knife which looked near identical to the MOP penknife just this morning, at what is called a car-boot sale here. I'd have bought it, but one of the blades was near ground away.

Thanks for sharing your grandmother's knives

That patent was granted June 7, 1938. I will find out to whom soon. I want to revise my earlier statement. I don't think it's an Imperial. It seems too long, the bail hole is wrong, the EO notch and nail notches are wrong, and it doesn't fit your time frame.

Check your patent number again, and make sure you typed it in here correctly. That is a patent for a self heating windshield wiper. Not the same thing, exactly. ;)

Ok it SAYS 2170537. Hope that one is not a windshield wiper

I may have it backwards and the pearl pen knife is the one Grandpa gave her before they married and someone else gave her the one with the pat number.

Thank you for sharing your family knives. Sentimental value is priceless. May you pass them on someday to yours.

It's for a knife handle and was granted to Imperial in 1938.
That doesn't mean the knife was made in 1938. 1950's is still quite possible. But, it likely was made by Imperial.
