I never understood the appeal of brass on a knife, especially after the introduction of nickel silver. My Gripe now is--- What is up with stag horn?! I just don't get it!!

I have never been a big fan of either, but alot of people think stag is beautiful and brass does give an antique look in a short amount of time. I like both if done correctly, but my prference is toward nickel silver and bone.

Why would you gripe at what others like, as long as you can get what you like.

All good, just different. :)

OK. Change Gripe to Question. I do not dislike brass or stag or which style of knife or knives, people like. Are we clear, everyone?

It is a natural material. To look at it is interesting due to the natural variations. If done correctly, it can offer a sure grip.

Personally G-10 is more functional, but Stag looks way better.

I love stag on folders. I have several. Its never caused me any problems, but then again I'm not using those knives for covert deanimation activities or deactivating underwater anti-shipping mines.

A lot of people like the old, traditional look.

Some knives look better with the brass and stag. Other knives I like better with Micarta, G10, or wood.

I like stag and personally prefer it to bone but the price of stag has gone crazy. I just prefer to make my knives with natural handle materials, mostly exotic hardwoods, but I have used just about eveything on knife handles.

I use a lot of brass and nickel silver. Both are relatively inexpensive, easy to work, and will take a nice shine. Both will also scratch easily, show fingerprints and tarnish. So it's really just a matter of color preference.

And I thought I was the only one not engaged in those activities:)

I am also not a big fan of brass (I love mokume) or stag.

I like the texture of stag on the handles. I like them to be as natural as possible because they feel rather grippy that way. There are a few fixed blade knifes I have felt that almost form perfectly to my hand.

I love stag, it is my favorite handle material ever. I also like brass but prefer nickel.

Brass will turn green if it is not polished, that's not for me, but I did not think stag was so durable. I was under the impression stag drys and cracks easily. Thank you for the responses.
