I bought a Hack like this one several years ago and never liked the length of the handle in relation to the blade length... I love the finger notch at the blade, the beefy INFI stock, and the full convex edge, though.

This weekend I got a wild hair (hare?) and decided to cut down the handle to something more my liking. After a brief stint on the chop saw and the belt grinder, I came up with this. The knife came out at exactly 6in, my preferred length for a pocket carry fixed blade, although the parallax makes it look longer.

I have been using a link of bicycle chain with a clip on the end to attach the sheath of my pocket-carried fixed blades to a belt loop so the knife is suspended in my pocket. (Here are pics of that set-up.) This is primarily to keep the sheath attached to my pants so the knife pops out of the sheath when I remove the knife from my pocket and to keep everything in my pocket when sitting down or getting in and out of cars. It also suspends the knife above the bottom of my pocket which keeps it from wearing the pocket and keeps it from "printing".

Lately I've been using a simple loop of paracord just long enough to slip the sheath back through to connect sheaths to my belt loop. This time I decided to use a bead on a cord connected to the sheath.

The melted paracord produced this cool star shaped pattern on the ends...

The INFI and paper micarta bead exactly matches the handle of the knife, because it's part of the handle that got cut off. A couple of loops around the belt loop, or even with the bead pulled under the belt, and the sheath is securely connected to my pants.

I hear you. The Hack went from being a disappointment tossed in the back of a drawer, to one of my favorites and my current EDC.
