Life is good.

I love waiting for the UPS guy when I know he has a new knife for me. It's like Christmas. I usually have the box open by the time the elevator gets back up to my floor (opened knifelessly; I fear cutting myself in my haste). Then I spend the whole day playing with my new prize possession. It's amazing how long I can play a simple game like "open knife, close knife." W/ just a few breaks trying to find some arm or leg hair to test-shave. (Only times in my entire life I've ever even fleetingly wished I was hairier. But vain searching for visible arm hair has made it occasionally a trial to be half-Asian & female; never minded before.)

I also can't wait until I'm reincarnated as someone with money for knives that cost more than $25.
Ah, the pleasures of anticipation.

Your post made me laugh. Being male and of both northern and southern European heritage I don't have that problem in the least. . . :D

You'll realy love the half ton it truely is an excellent value for the money also the blade steel 8CR13MOV isn't half bad either and pretty easy to sharpen as well.

SWEET!

Man, this knife is ... adorable.
(Well, it is.)

What a sturdy fat little thing. Absolutely rock-solid -- I cannot impose blade play on it; forget there being any going on without my wiggling away at it (or even with my wiggling away at it. It won't wiggle). Feels great in the hand. I love the big belly on the blade. If it had any more, it would be square.

It's like the knife equivalent of a healthy bouncing baby boy. A lot more useful and without nearly the maintenance; but with the same short, chunky, pot-bellied, bright red, cute but surprisingly strong and grippy thing going on. (As far as maintenance goes, I put a drop of mineral oil on the pivot. May prevent diaper rash as well as speeding up deployment. Heh.)

The thumb stud is a wee bit close to the handle, but for $13 perfection is a bit much to expect, and I can get it open fine, I'm just spoiled by my Blur. I already love my l'il Half Ton, even if he is chubby and red and not all bad-ass like his big black bro. He's got a (half) ton of moxie, clearly.

And it's definitely the biggest little knife I've ever seen. The box was tiny, and closed the thing is no bigger than a big lighter, but open, it has real presence. Just really nice and solid in the hand. I haven't found anything to cut with it yet besides paper -- still searching for some arm hair :) -- but I'm sure I'll find myself with it in pocket when I need it. (Now that it's summer-clothes season, and the Manhattan DA is still on his "pat down anybody with a visible knife clip and charge them with illegal possession 4, if the cop can get the knife open using his wrist and/or it locks up," it's a good time for an EDC that will handily fit all the way at the bottom of my pocket and be out of sight even if it's a shorts pocket, and I'm wearing a top that has me covered against a public indecency charge but not to the extent of overhanging shirttails. I think I'm going to have to retire my Blur and Skyline until I can conceal them under fall clothes again (or get out of NY; ideally).

Meanwhile I have the only knife I'm ever likely to call "adorable" to be my new EDC, for the Year of NY Knife Paranoia (2011 = the nadir of local knife rights). I am consoled.
