I'm one of those cooks that was born within a month of Christmas so there's about 20 days of awesomeness at the beginning of the new year. Flew from Boise to Wisconsin to hang out with the parents for a week and wound up checking a second bag of just outdoors-oriented christmas and birthday presents. My buddy InsaneMachine gave me the RatPack edition RC3, which was totally awesome. Mom bought me two pair of my favorite mocs, Minnetonka double soft soles, a pair of North Face Rucky Chuckys (I shredded my last pair, they're my favorite hiking shoe), a Mountainsmith Aurora II camera bag for my new SLR, a North Face Skareb 40 crag pack, an Aquamira filtered water bottle, a North Face Fairfax wool sweater, a box of 10 pair of wool socks, an awesome Kakadu cargo vest and two Kakadu buttonup shirts, North Face denali gloves and hat, a Maxpedition Versipack (I still have to decide on a model, either the fatboy or Jumbo EDC) and a Nikon L100 camera to accompany my SLR camera. I still don't know what to think about the L100, it's extremely quiet but is too big to be convienient like a point and shoot, and picture clarity and lack of true color tones leave much to be desired. There's also a bunch of fruity features in the software I had to turn off just to be able to take pictures of wildlife without being asked 10 times if someone blinked in this photo. Anyway, now I have to find the time to try all this stuff out and put it to use...
