My Heros Have Always Been Cowboys....

I once asked an ndn friend who he rooted for growing up in the 60's; I'm pretty sure he said the cowboys. We both wondered why the ndns kept charging impossible positions. Why they got mowed down and kept coming.

I liked the site. I don't like Chirac- he's the bad guy in any b or A movie.

watching old cowboy movies with old ndn's

is a surreal experience because a lot of them were extras in the big battles, not in major roles mind you

I was watching TV with a Lakota uncle

when a movie came on he was in ,

during one of the Calvary fights he yells

"ok everyone, stay on your damn horses'"

because , one of the producers in a act to spice up the action offered 100$to any ndn to fall off his horse "dead" so next scene cowboy fires 3 shots and 94 ndns fell over dead

you guys wont believe this, but I see more cowboys in japan than i ever did in Texas.
Over here, people literally wear costumes and nobody says anything because they figure it's "american style"

I saw a japanese guy on the escalator at tokyo station and he was basically the marlboro man.
faded jeans, lizard boots, stetson, even had saddlebags over his shoulder.
I couldnt believe my eyes. I swear he even had an imported piece of straw in his mouth.

Here I am, a fairly big, fairly white texan in t shiort and shorts and the freaking japanese marlboro man is passing me on the escalator.

"Cowboys and Indians"?
How politically incorrect!
In the spirit of never offending anyone, which permeates this forum, I suggest from now on they be called:
"Cattleworkers and Native Americans".
Or, as some might prefer "Cttlwkrs nd ndns".

I've noticed some exagerated gentleness, but for the most part, we are against recklessly and spitefully hurting others, not against speaking on issues and ideas.

Naw. The point is made. I should have also mentioned that I like the Indians also!

I was about to go to the market when I read this. Felt like I ought to doff my straw ( too hot to wear my beavers ) and hold it over my my heart.

I'm with Bill Marsh. I like both cowboys and ndn's Both of them knew how to "ride, shoot straight, and speak the truth".

( It's a Western thing, Pen... Eastern tinhorns aren't expected to understand right and wrong. )

*groan*.....

I'm on Bill's side on this one....I was just surprised nobody picked up on the patriotic message.....Was that what you intended, Bill?

Sometimes right-n-wrong sorts itself out with no interference at all....;)

What an idiot. You can prefer whatever you want, most folks seem to prefer a concept called "Freedom of Speech".

Sodak-

That isn't what Benaround meant. He wants freedom of speech at least as much as you do.

That's true, but I have an aversion to smileys and other visual aids. I feel it's kind of like talking down to my "audience". They remind me of the "Applause" sign that flashes on in the TV studio.

The piece should stand on it's own and the audience either gets it or they don't. If just a couple of people get what I'm saying, I feel the expression was successfully communicated. If nobody gets it then I'm probably fishing in the wrong pond.

If somebody is so far off in missing the point that he reveals his ignorance by an inappropriate reply I don't feel any need to respond because he probably wouldn't understand that either.
