Here's where I do all my work. It takes up about half of a two car garage. The main tools I have are:
Kalamazoo grinder (I don't like it but it's what I have)
Paragon 14" HT oven (I like it a lot)
Harbor Freight Drill Press (I want to upgrade)
Bandsaw from Lowe's (works okay)
4x36 Belt Sander (works okay and I can't live without one)
1x30 Belt Sander (this is new and I like it but wish the tracking was better)
Harbor Freight Metal Cutting Bandsaw (Can't live without it)
Dewalt Hand drill (My oldest tool and it's great)
Black and Decker Rotary tool (I like it better than the Dremel)

The rest are handl tools like files and stuff. It's not much but it works for me. Thanks for looking!

Great set-up Ray! Is that your shop boss sitting there by the band saw? Thanks for sharing! -Matt-

Thanks for the peak Ray. Great choice, leaning towards heat treating control over other odds and ends (for now).
Take care, Craig

Thanks for sharing the pictures.

With all the hidden/rabbet tang knives you make, I thought you might have a mill to do the guards. You must be real accurate with those files!

How about a mini-mill to replace that ol' drill press? :D

Looks great man!

Ray, I was checking out the pics of your knives. They appear as if they require some of my money. Do you have a website, do you sell them here on the exchange, or are all your blades custom ordered/custom made?

Humble or no, it's a well thought out space.

Your shop help, has a most impressive snout. Is he a lab-shepherd mix?

This is Budo', my shop assistant.

Hey Fred, he's part lab and I don't know what else. I guess probably shepherd cause he looks a lot like your dog.

Flatgrinder, I've slotted so many guards with using files that I've gotten pretty good at it. I can accurately slot a guard in 15 min on a good day.

maquahuitl, I'm not taking orders right now. I usually just sell knives that I make over at the for sale section. Here's a link to my photo album

The ears are a dead give away. They can't make up there mind, ears up,
or ears down. This is the second one I have had the pleasure of hanging with.
A great mix, Fred

He's a great dog. The best I've ever had. That's as far up as his ears will go. His ears go up and down depending on his mood and expression. He really knows how to communicate with me and me to him.. He's 8 years old but still acts like a puppy sometimes and quite athletic for his age.

Nice setup! I see you like to be comfortable! Me too. I've got a couple of bar stools I use more and more as time goes on. The less fatigued I get, the better the work.

I have two of those 1x30 grinders. I keep the top guard off one, and use it for contours and curves. I use the other one for grinding small blades like my LPs. Great little tools for the money.

Its amazing what you can do with just a few tools! Years ago when I contemplated knifemaking, I though I'd need a full machine shop. Aint so.

Great looking shop,Ray-Looks like an efficient setup-Looks like you've got the best shop assistant too:D

Thanks everyone for the compliments. For my next purchase, I'm thinking of getting kydex sheath making equipment. I spend way too much time making leather sheaths. Of course, for my bowies, I really need to use leather.

Nice bike there Barkes. I've always wanted a motorcycle but my wife won't allow it. She won't even consider it!

nice shop, mine takes up about a third of that space. Have to make it work though. had to kick out my shop assistant, she tries to fetch sparks when I'm grinding. She's part bulldog and boxer and... well that much I'm sure of anyway.
