Hey guys, Im working in Kenya for a year. Im an EMT and also doing missions work. Since I got here I got bit by the traditional bug...and it bites hard! Ive used almost exclusively "tacticool" folders and brought many with me. Since turning traditional Ive started carrying my few traditional folders quite often. I really want to get my hands on a GEC and many others Ive been eyeballing on the internet. Let me know what you think of what I have so far! No stag...or anything cool like that.
What I have pictured here is

1) Wetterlings wildlife axe: really nice to edc in my pack
2) EKA slipjoint in blue
3) my all time favorite Victorinox Spartan
4) Wenger classic keychain knife

Its really great, made in Sweden. It takes a nice edge, very simplistic design. The handle is oversized a bit to fit perfectly in the hands. It has been dropped many times and held up great.

Looks like some very useful tools, though I will say I am glad the EMTs who treated me after my motorcycle crash did not approach totin' a wildlife axe!

Hahaha, yeah it doesnt see much medical action. But I do use my benchmade triage quite often, especially when I was working on the ambulance. But thats not a traditional knife, hahaha

Great set up!
Where in Kenya are you? Are you enjoying it?

Hey Steven, we are in Eldoret, kinda on the Ugandan border, pretty far inland. We are enjoying it, takes a while to get acclimated and used to the culture but after that its all good. -caleb

That's a very nice Wetterlings you have, they make great axes. Axe collecting is as addictive and interesting as traditional knives. In case you want to go down that slippery slope there's a great Ax, hatchet and tomahawk forum here.:D

Best regards

Ahh good you are far from the Somalian Border. You should be fairly close the the Great Rift Valley.........Something I have always wanted to see.
Enjoy, stay safe and have fun.........:)

Haha thank you...I better stick to knives for now! I got bit hard by the traditional bug, I dont want the same thing to happen with axes. I LOVE this hatchet, its so handy to carry in my pack.

The Rift Valley is so gorgeous. If you ever get a chance you need to see it. This is a little piece of Heaven out here. Cant think of a better environment to carry some good ole traditional knives. :)
