I (Robert Hankins) have admired the "Uncle Bill Especial" design since I first laid eyes on it. Since I can't really afford one I decide to make a Knife version of this great design. Contacted Bill first and he gave me the thumbs up and also was gracious enough to grant permission to post my creation here. Made two of these one for show one for GO!
So I hope this little tribute does justice to a great guy and a great knife company.
Thanks Bill!

Specs: 12 5/8" OAL blade is 7 1/2" tip to front of scales. Made from 3/16" 5160 which has been beadblasted and blued, dyed Linen Micarta slabs with a full convex double edge. Shaving sharp on both edges with Brass tubing pins. Looks far better in person than the pics. Definetly a slicer and dicer with the great design influence from the "UBE"
The other one is Satin finish with polished G10 slabs and single edged. Will post pics soon if there is an interest.
Enjoy!

Nice! Now about the other one......Why no pics of it? You know we would ask for 'em. Now don't make us beg. :D :D

Nice blade Robert! That looks like a grinding nightmare! :D I don't know how you do 'em, but they all end up looking good.

I posted this once but I guess it didn't take. Gremlins of the HI forum at work.

Sanu would be pleased with this copy of his design but would comment that the cho should be on the edge rather than spine and would also say Bob needs more practice making chos.

I say, nice work.

No cho, no go! :D

I like the thumb ramps that you put on it.
The UBE is one of my favorite big knives. It has a great balance and feels very light in the hand for a good chopper. Plus with that big belly you can slice easily. I can't recommend it more highly.

Robert, I've always admire your Koa Bowie and your recurves. One of these days I'll have to pick one up.

Robert, that is a neet knife. Keep up the good work.:)

Thanks for the kind words gentlemen!
Cho on top will keep your thumb in one piece (Hopefully) if you stab something really hard.
Spiral, Have been making blades for almost 5yrs now. Have lost tract of how many.

I have one of Mr. Hankins' bowies and it is really nice. A slicer more than a chopper, but that is what the HI's are for. I would recommend one of Mr. Hankins bowies to anyone who wants a bowie like I would recommend HI for any one wanting a khuk.
