In the last few months I've tightened up my already rather narrow collection. I want to concentrate on the early custom and catalogue stainless bladed knives that Chris made in South Africa. The hunting and utility knives hold a real passion for me.

I've sold off the OPK's, the prices they fetch are surprisingly strong and I'm a little paranoid about corrosion on the D2/A2 blades. Some were already suffering with small areas of corrosion. I want to keep the knives in display cases rather than sealed containers with silica, I want to admire them on a regular basis so decided they needed to go...... By chance it coincided with an option to purchase a few exceptional utility knives, the released funds were more than useful....

Anyway up...... Here's the present line up.....

The one that started it all..... Thanks Stuart Ackerman. (Zackerty) and for the first picture!

A marvellous hunting set of 3 knives originally owned by the late Blade Forum member Raindrop and sold to me by his good friend Gary Graley. Comprises Skinner #6, Back Packer #3 and Bird & Fish # 7. All around 8" with Tamboti Wood scales. The black background pictures are courtesy of Gary Graley.

Dana (variant) #5 9" OAL. Effectively a custom, it bears no resemblance to the other Dana knives of which I have 1 and hope1967 has 2. Beautiful Thuya Burl handle that reminds me of a satellite picture of a desert landscape.

The following came about because of a thread on SABlade, and help from Neels Roos and their former owner Karl. Some of the pictures are also taken by Neels. (The good ones....)

Femme Ultra #7. 5" OAL Garter knife. Ivory scales. Wonderful matching Ivory clog style sheath.

Femme Ultra #8. 5" OAL Garter knife. Buffalo horn scales. Again an amazing matching sheath.

Ulu #3. Eskimo style knife around 3" diameter, Giraffe bone handle. Original leather sheath. First picture courtesy of Neels Roos.

Pair of custom steak knives Made for a friend of Chris Reeve. A tad over 8" with Micarta scales. Used but very good condition and I'll continue to use them, mainly when camping.

A mind blowing, mint custom cutlery set. Hand made by Chris again for the same SA friend. It was displayed at a South African knife makers show and also featured I believe in one of the knives illustrated books. Whale bone handles, Titanium fittings. First picture courtesy of Neels Roos. Display picture courtesy of CRKs.

Must say a huge thank you to Anne Reeve for her help and information.

The Inyoni is a heck of a little knife. One I had overlooked for quite some time until it was almost too late 😉

Yep, it's a strange little knife. I bought one years ago, didn't warm to it and sold it on. Later I read an article where it's use and hold was being commented on by Chris. Apparently it was part designed to be held at 90 degrees to a normal knife hold, at that point with the ball of the thumb on the crescent shaped notches it feels natural and secure even when wet and slimy. Anyway, having used it fishing for a season I love it, lol.
