I was sitting around today browsing through the Emerson website and while looking at the Horseman, I kept thinking "If only it were a bit different". So I grabbed a sheet of paper and sketched up my "Horseman 2.0" so to speak. I like the blade shape of the Horseman as-is but I made this one a bit more "aggressive" looking with a more dramatic belly and angled sweep to the spine. Also decided to give it a higher grind. The Handle is really the thing I'm not crazy about on the Horseman and while it feels great in-hand, it just doesn't look too great to me for some reason. So I ditched the finger grooves and made the handle less organic looking but curved it down a bit more to give the over all profile of the knife a sort of s-curve look. Now of course, this is just my idea of what I would love to see produced by Emerson but I'm curious to hear what you guys think. If you have any ideas of you're own, post them up as well!

That's a hell of a mockup. My idea is for you to start making knives. (Of course, you'd then have to lose the wave...)

Thanks for the comments guys. Eventually I would like to make my own knives but for now, I'm holding on to all of my ideas.

hello DrOp,
nice looking pattern to say the least. always thought the commander would be nicer with a little less curve on the handle. my favorite emerson and always will be is my MACH1. just fits like a glove. hard to improve those ergos for me. good luck on your future knife-making endeavors.

That is an awesome design you have there, it looks like the 8 with a Journeyman handle on it, I would get one if Emerson ever made them.
