Well, I love picture threads, and maybe others will add their woods bummin bags (please :D )

Always tweaking and adjusting. What I have so far;

Blades; ML Kephart Fisher and Hudson Bay Camp Knife.

Upper left; straw segments with cotton/vaseline, Hudson Bay tobacco tin with lense, snake steel (with flint not pictured), fire steel, altoids tin with char cloth, and on bottom, 10ft of gorilla tape on old credit card.

Lower right; hand made basic mountain man purse with diamond card knife sharpener. I usually take a few snacks and such, but this is generally when knocking around within 5 miles of the house.

Any input appreciated.

Great kit, Doc! I really like that ML Hudson Bay Camp Knife! I may have to get Matt to make one of those for me.

Ron

Ron,

It is a slippery slope brother!! I am in line for #3 now. My son has REALLY taken a liking to this one.

Doc haven't you learned yet....NEVER let the young'ns get ahold of your gear. You'll never get it back.

Yeah, dad always told me that after a man's son reaches 11 yrs old, he will never own a complete set of tools again!!!!

10-4 on the tools. They need to start building a tool box at about Age 11-12. Makes Christmas and Birthdays pretty easy for gifts.

These aren't exactly "old time" but I'll still share...

I bought these two Versipack GTG bags on clearance and matched them with some Liberty water bottles. I've been carrying the green one quite a bit. Here's what's in it.

The main compartment has a Laplander saw, a Becker BK-24 (with Sh@rp scales), bandanna, paracord, first-aid kit, a Rite in the Rain tablet, and a Princeton Tec Fuel headlamp.
This compartment also usually has my outdoor camera in it (a Panasonic DMC-TS2 with which I'm taking these pics).

The inner zip compartment has a fire kit (K&M match case, mini Bic, firesteel, Wetfire Tinder), a Fisher space pen, a small hone, and an SAK (Outdoorsman).

There's an open pocket under the main flap, and I've got a space blanket and a mirror in it.

The right side zip pocket usually has my GPS and keys in it.

The flap pocket has a whistle and a Fenix E11 in it.

The inside zip pocket often has a Kel-Tec P3AT with spare mag (where permissable).

DocGP, here's a Finnish gas mask bag I'm going to turn into a more woodsy bummin' bag.
A guy over in Becker posted up a recipe for waterproofing, and I'm going to pick up the stuff this weekend and treat the bag.

One pound beeswax
8 fl. oz. turpentine
8 fl. oz. boiled linseed oil
Pine tar (about a two tablespoons)

Melt the beeswax add everything else and stir well.
Let it cool to form a paste.

There you go. The best waterproofer/preservative/finish for cloth, leather, and wood you'll ever find. Rub it on then use a hairdryer to work it in.

Great Set up Bro!!!!!!!

Very well thought out!!!!

Nice old school kit! D@mnit, I wish when I was asked what I wanted for Christmas I had remembered I need one of those Hudson Bay tins for my flint and steel kit. Guess I'm back to buying my own...

These bags are great! I have two of them, one for my traditional bushcrafting and the other for my archaeology field bag. The can hold a nice amount and the strap attached to the bottom can go around a leg or torso.
