Today I received my first GEC, it's a lockback #72.
Wasn't as dull as a brick, but almost. :D
Oh well, 1095 is really fun to sharpen and it takes on a great edge, convex or V.
Although I pretty much convex all of my knives, I decided to go with a 25 degree V edge on this one. I used a Lansky DMT kit and a leather strop loaded with black and green compound. She is shaving sharp now.

Thanks for looking guys, I have a Case John Deere on the way, I'll post some pics when I get her.

I've been looking at that one all morning with the thought of also buying the slip sheath with it. You just cost me another $100. I hate this subforum!!! lol

Great pictures... they really sold me on this knife.

John

Looks like you've got a nice one their. I too have been looking at those as well and trying to resist picking one up.

That's a very nice looking knife. I will say that I like the satin finish on the Tidioute blades better than I do the high gloss finish on the Northfield blades.

my brother got the same knife last week, blue is real pretty was going to order then the stags & abalone came out. members have liked & posted this knife several times.dennis

You got me with those pics. The blue was calling my name I ordered tonight. The waiting is the worst part.

Those really are spectacular pictures you took there. Nice knife!

I'm glad you like them! Don't have a professional camera but I discovered that lighting is perfect during the afternoon on my porch. :D
Oh, and welcome to the club, the pics posted by FLYMON here on the forum sold me on this knife, so HE is to blame. :D :p :)

Nevertheless, I'm a little confused about something: while the etching on the blade says "1 of 50" I've got #15 on the bolster
Anyone care to enlighten a newbie? :)
