I like that! :D

It's good that they should do that... but I'd keep running Norton yourself.

Are you sure that message really came from juno.com and the link would really take you to the juno.com address it seems? There are viruses that look similar to that.

Cougar is correct.

My ISP is "Cox" and they put the following notice on their home page:

Cox customers may be receiving fake emails that appears to be from Cox, but they are not. These emails often include an attachment that contain the MyDoom virus. Cox Communications is not responsible for sending these emails and we suggest that you take action to protect your computer system.

The MyDoom virus is a particularly deceptive virus that has started sending email to our customers. In the current Internet environment, it is vital that you implement virus protection on your computer systems. Many antivirus applications will automatically identify and quarantine these infected email messages.

They also provided several samples of the "Virus emails" and links to 4 or 5 methods of removing the "virus" (if one suspects that their computer was infected or opened one of the attachments).

As , Ralph Kramden of "The Honeymooners," would say. . . . . . ."NORTON !" :D

Absolutely. I don't trust what an email says unquestioningly. I've sent Juno a question about mail they sent me once that I wasn't sure was from them. And I didn't click on that link to them because I already know their policy.

I've been using AVG for viruses. So far, so good.

Symantec (Norton) has intercepted the My Doom virus in emails that got through my ISPs virus protection 3 times in the last week.

I will continue to subscribe as long as I am running the Windows OS.

I have heard that the LINUX OS does not get attacked, or is not susceptable to the attacks that windows gets. Any opinions?

I used to run Macs until the late '90s and never had any attacks.

Several things work in Linux (or other Unix variants) favor:

First, Linux and Unix are simply far less common so they are attacked far less.

Second, there are so many variants of Unix that attacking any one is far less productive from the virus writer's standpoint.

Third, Unix and most of its variants are simply more secure (though not perfect by any means).

My ISP blocks potential viruses and I have had the Netsky thing, in various variations, show up on the virus report at least 30 times in the last few months. There is also some emails that are being created to look like the receiver is the one that is sending it. We were notified by the ISP about these before they started showing up.

3 intercepts in the last week? Sheesh...I was getting 3-4 a day for a while there.....yikes!

Got a similar type email from my bank....! !

Definitely called to make sure it was legit....
