My issue with frame locks on a flipper

I have found with frame locks that when I grab the knife to open, after removing from my pocket, that my finger falls on the frame lock. This extra pressure makes it very diffucult to flip open. I have to make sure that I am not touching the frame lock and due to a large hand makes it uncomfortable. If the mfg. would make the clip rest 1/2 on the frame and the other 1/2 over the lock any pressure applied to the clip does not put pressure on the frame lock.
What I usually have to do is make my own clip that sits only 1/2 on the frame. I hope this photo explains it better. Do many others run into this issue?

I've seen it, but it's not every framelock flipper, just some models here and there that seem extra-sensitive to pressure.

I've also seen the opposite; knives that were poor flippers due to weak detent force where pressing on the lockbar a bit when flipping them made them flip better.

There are a few flippers that actually are affected by that but most it makes no difference unless you have a death grip on the lock bar ...

I don't consider it an issue for me, but opening my linerlock flippers is a more "mindless" operation than opening my framelock flippers.

I have this issue with my ZT 0460 but with none of my other 30 framelock flippers

I haven't seen it as a universal flipper issue. There are a few knives I own that seem to be a bit hyper sensitive to lockbar pressure, like my ZT0450. With my 0450 sample, I've found I could be very careful where I hold, keeping fingers off the bar. Or I can simply relax my grip substantially, and it seems to flip just fine no matter where I hold it.

I tend to just naturally brace my fingers against the side of the clip, so I don’t really ever experience this issue.

I have found this to be especially so with my ZT0470 in the picture. Had to make the clip longer then the one that came on the knife.

I just hate to have to think about my grip when using a frame lock flipper. Have not found this issue on all my frame locks. Just a few.

There are advantages to being left handed in a right handed world. This is one of them. Currently, I don’t have this issue with my ZT’s since they’re all right handed

Not a huge issue for me, just have to kind of relearn after not carrying it for a while, of course the only one that does this is my 0450cf.

Only a few frame-locks are like this. Almost every subframe-lock is like this.
Ever try a Copper Natrix? Talk about making sure your hand / fingers sit perfectly.
Ain’t got time fo dat. Dumb. Sold it.

Had the same issue with my copper Natrix. I also have about four ZT’s with frame locks and it’s not a problem; at least not until I started carrying a Spiderco Para3 every day for months. I simply forget about applying pressure on the frame locks when trying to open them. It took me a few times to relearn the technique required to open the ZT knives.
