My Izula is MY Izula

So I've had my Izula for a month now, and I can finally feel comfortable saying it's all mine. Today I put a patina on the laser etchings, and also filed the jimpings to be more to me liking and put a patina on those. Between that and the way the micarta has stained and darkened with use on the handles, it definitely feels like "my" knife. It's even bit me already; one of the worse ones I've had in fact. It's also helped me get out of trouble too, prying open my frozen-shut gas hatch on the middle of a road when I ran out of gas.

I like to horizontally belt carry it for EDC too. Sometimes I feel a little weird carrying it in public, but I live in a good place for that. I do feel weird though because I like to also carry a folder just so I don't have to fidget with the belt sheath, but when I tried neck carrying I liked that less. Just never did find anything comfortable to hang around my neck, and it would always get hung up on the right or left side if I put it under my shirt, but despite that I never like to be without it now even if I wind up carrying a folder too.

No, I've seen people carry like that and thought it looked interesting. Maybe I'll give that a try. One of the things that makes it kind of hard to carry concealed though is just not being able to see the knife when I'm putting it back into the sheath. That's one of the things I did like about neck carrying.

I might make something like that with some string to try it out though. Either way I just kind of wanted to celebrate and brag about having and EDC'ing my Izula for a month.

i also carry my izula and with a folder (rat 1 m1, until the izula folder is available). I tried to carry the izula horizontally on the small of my back for a while, but i cut my finger and the paracord on the sheath trying to put the knife back in once. I do like it vertically on my belt between my spine and my right hip (very concealed).

Has anyone thought about doing a tuckable inside the waistband sheath? Or is something like that available? Same concept as a Crossbread Super Tuck for guns but with a knife. That's what I want to accompany my XD 9 Service CC pistol. I want to carry a knife on my left hip at 9 O'Clock cross draw. As I carry my XD service on my right at 3 O'Clock.

Not necessarily tuckable but the best clips I've found for belts, waistbands, boots, socks, etc are the spyderco g-clips. They're adjustable in 45 degree increments.

Thanks for the pics hoopster. But I am aware of IWB sheaths. I could do this with a regular Izula sheath and boot clip. However I want to be able to conceal my 4 with a shirt tucked in. I will get a clip for it to carry it with a t-shirt over it. But at my job I have to wear professional clothes. So a tuckable IWB sheath would be bad ass.

I know a 4 sounds big to carry. But I like to carry the biggest, scariest knife I possibly can legally that is comfortable. I plan on getting an Izula II eventually though.

Well I live in California and concealing fixed blades is a felony, even though concealing my Izula is more comfortable for me. My Izula has bitten me for sure haha. While it is just the base model, no micarta or anything, it still feels like I can really call it MY Izula

I use my Izula for everyday carry as well. I use a sling system very similar to the Mercharness. I made the sling with paracord and I put it on before I put my shirt so I can feel it against my body all day. so I know exactly where it is and it doesnt snag on any material on the draw. I find this very comfy, fast, and effective for me. I can get to this with both hands which is important.

I also carry a folder in my right pocket, which is my go to knife. only used for self defense. The izula is more of a edc knife for any job where a knife is required, but also acts as a back up knife from my primary pocket folder. Now I do like the spot on the back between the hip and spine. I like this spot for many reasons, but I save this for my glock I am lucky enough to live in miami and be able to carry concealed with my permit of course.

so thats what works for me. You have to find what works for you and train with it as much as possable. After training your draw from many positions which ever one worked 95% of the time is the one for you. So that should be the one you should go with.

I wrapped the end of the Izula today. Feels much better in hand now, but I can still take the scales off easily.

Why does this come to mind after seeing this thread?
"This is my Izula. There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My Izula is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my Izula is useless. Without my Izula, I am useless."

Styx I thought the same thing when Ioriginally read this post! ESEE should make a shirt with that on it! Id buy like six of them

I also live in Cali. Yeah we can't have a concealed fixed blade knife on your person, but you can carry fixed blades as long as it's in in full view between the belt and pocket area. Also the length depends on what county or city you happen to be in. Usually anything under 4" is fine. But I just would bother carrying one into a large city like SF, LA, or SD.

I LOVE my Izula and have used it every single day for all kinds of things. When I first bought it I really didn't think that I'd get a whole lot of use out of it, but damn was I wrong! It's just the right size to be able to carry with you all over and a blade long enough to get through what ever you might need it to. I've battoned it through some really thick pieces of wood that I thought it stood no chance of getting through, but it made through asking for more. No wonder Jeff and Mike have made over 16,000 of them!!!
