My Izula Wrap Tutorial (Lots o' Pics)

Here is my Izula wrap with instructions. I've had many people email me about it and figured I'd just post a tutorial. The main part of the wrap came from JoeyB's tutorial thread (thanks JoeyB) and I just improvised from there. I used about five feet of cord, but I'd use a little more (around 5.5) and cut it down when finished. How many knots you end up with in the main part just depends on you. Twelve knots was the most I could get, but that was ridiculously tight... in this tutorial I did 11.

The way you start the wrap determines how it feels in the hand. I'm a lefty and in my hand, the lefty wrap feels the best. However you may find the righty wrap feels best in your left hand. You'll have to mess around with it to see which feels best. They are both done the same, just started opposite. How ambidextrous "feeling" it is just depends on how tight you wrap it. Experiment with it and find what you like best.

I lightened up the photos since the black cord is very hard to see, hopefully they show up nice.

awesome. I emailed you about it earlier. thanks for the quick reply! Yeah I noticed it was joeyb`s but the parallel wrap you did just before the hole was an additional touch. Like the way you finished it as well

Thanks for the kind comments guys. I have to give back to this forum somehow, I've learned way too much not to.

I went with the scales myself but was able to do a decent paracord wrap for fun. This is a really good tutorial to get started.

This should be a sticky.

That's a great looking wrap and one I've never seen before. Thanks for posting it and all of the pics!

Thanks for sharing this and it looks easy with your instructions. I have yet to purchase my Esee Izula as I'm still searching for the best deal I can find and reading all about how fantastic they are.

No problem guys, I appreciate the feedback. Definitely check out JoeyB's thread too as he has a lot of good variations to take inspiration from.

Insignia, you really need to get one... I use mine everyday. The edge retention for ESEE's 1095 is quite awesome and it definitely gets very sharp. Also nice and easy to touch up, it's just a great blade.

Cool, I wonder if you could do the left and right wrap at the same time by making the loop on both sides and pulling them tight together? If so you might be able to store stuff in the middle.

Ordered one last night from Knifeworks.com (got the tan with survival kit) and can't wait to get it. Also just ordered a kydex sheath from a thread I found here for only $20. shipped. Thought that I'd put tan paracord on the handle to match the knife and coyote tan kydex sheath.

Is that standard 550 cord? Did you remove the inner fibers or leave the cord as is?

Thanks

I'd like to see that, if you do it pop up some pics.

That's actually where I got mine too, good choice. You will definitely enjoy that knife.

Standard 550 and the inner fibers are still inside.
