I tend to outfit myself in layers when working or recreating and like to have my knives setup as one of the layers.
This is my Hiker Backup "kit"- setup as a necker (the neck lanyard has a small plastic loop that will break if I ever get it hung up hard taking a tumble). The sheath is wrapped w/ ~ 15' of 100# accessory cord w/ a 3/16" firesteel. I added a photon micro light and a fox whistle on the front side. On the rear there are two tinder tabs and two micropur tabs in a small bag. Everything is wrapped w/ a 2" ranger band.
The light can be worked through the ranger band while still on the sheath-just tilt the sheath up and squeeze the light. Both the light and whistle are attached via a short tether and can be pulled out from the ranger band.
