I used my JK Kephart tonight to baton down some firewood for the fireplace.

I did not want to go outside and get out an axe, so I just pulled out my trusty Kephart and confidently batoned down a couple of pieces of very dry oak.

John's 01 is very rugged, as we saw in the JK Knives Torture Test Passaround.

The Kephart, as expected, came out unscathed and still nice and sharp.

It was fun to get the knife out and let it eat.

Yup,ya gotta feed 'em occasionally to keep 'em happy.
Nice pics and nice old Kephart Andy.

Nice, aren't the handles comfortable! What wood is on yours?

My Kephart has Maple Burl - I ordered the first several knives from John in that wood -

It has held up very well - no shrinking and still looks beautiful - it has taken on a little darker coloration from my use, just making it that more good looking.

Love the burl handle. The Kephart pattern is the one of John's designs that just "feels right" in hand. I have a few variations but not one with a handle as nice as that.
