I kept getting the long tang hung up on the lip of the ice machines I work(ed) on while climbing in & out so I shortened it.
I never did understand why they need the tang so long in the first place.
I haven't had a problem with it wanting to close on me in use(and it gets plenty of use) & love to whittle with it during breaks.
My most used JK...ain't it a beaut?

It hits dead center on the stop pin & is plenty strong.
Notice the beveled end for prying.

I've been playing with the idea of reshaping the handle after seeing sitflyer's DIY FF a while back.
(what can I say,I like to tinker)

Cool! The knife looks well loved, I like the way the clip is getting a patina from it's run ins during your workdays.

Looks like it sliced right through that little bolt :^)

On the last one I did, I went a bit shorter too.
Cool, the long tang just don't make sense to me.

Since I was at work last week I took the opportunity to finally mod the handle by adding finger groves & add some color to the clip with a propane torch.

Thanks John,I just can't stop tinkering & since I had access to the belt sander I couldn't resist.

It is one tough son of a gun & it was good to get to carry it at work again however briefly.

Very nice, Myke!

Hey, John - can you make one of those in ironwood? Might be interested sometime next year...

Thanks Mike.
Ironwood is going to be killer, especially with brass liners.

And good luck Monday night.

Thanks! We'll need all the luck we can get. Seattle at home is a very tough assignment. But we have a streak of 9 straight prime time wins, so those guys just somehow get it up for that type of game. We'll see. Still, I won't feel too bad if we lose and are competitive. Seattle is awfully good this year.
