My Karambit

I decided to modify my Warren Thomas Karambit a while ago. I wanted to primarily add the "wave" that is so slick on Emerson's design. I also thought about adding a "stop" to the spine after reading Michael Janich's review of the knife in a magazine. He advocated the addition of it. I didn't think it would be too hard to do these things, but it did take a while.

What do you guys think?

I've added more photos in the Toolshed forum for those that are curious. I really love this modded karambit. It has even *temporarily* deposed my beloved Yojimbo as my SD edc for the time being.

Very cool looking! I'd probably pick up a spyderco karambit myself but I find the blade is at just too acute an angle relative to the handle for my use.

Great job on the waved Karambit. Eojk, how well does the wave work for this particular design? I have never used a waved knife but it appears like it is well suited for the Karambit.

Also, it looks like it could double as a bottle opener :D

That's what I was going to say!
Nice work, on my way to check out your other thread...

I just got a Karambit, and was wondering how you draw it. When clipped into my pocket, it isn't in a position that lends itself to be really useful. I can't get it into reverse grip nor forward grip. Even with the wave feature, the blade will open when drawing it, but wouldn't you have to reposition it so you can get it into reverse grip? The only way I can think of to get it to open into reverse grip would be to stick my index finger through the hole at an awkward angle (so that I have to reach between my pocket/leg, which if done incorrectly seems like it could result in a broken finger :thumbdn: :( ). Any advice? Thanks.

I carry for reverse grip opening. I put my forefinger through the hole and bring my hands together in front of my chest grabbing the opening hole between thumb and forefinger of my off hand and pull my hands apart opening the knife. I always train my martial openings with a two handed method as it seems to use more gross motor functions than inertial openings or other one handed openings. I'll take reliable over fast any day;)
