Well....part of the way. I was stuck in an ice storm in NC and had my ol' Khukri in the truck. Well....to hell with it. It worked awsome!! Although the hill was too steep to climb covered in ice the khukri did an amazing job with the ice. Now I have to dr. up the blade from the asphalt road......but what a way to use my chopper!!!!

Do you live in NC or just passing through? I'm in Kernersville and work in High Point.

I had to do this a couple of weeks ago at a friend's mountain cabin, except with an RJ Martin Manta. I'd never heard of this before as a method, but it worked really well. It turned a hill that we could make zero progress on into a hill that our car scooted right up. It was kinda tedious (cutting slices in a 40' by 6' patch) but it sure beat the alternatives.

And now I see your post, and wonder if I just wasn't paying attention when this was explained in the "How to Get Up an Icy Hill" class.

Had you ever heard of this before doing it yourself?

I really should keep my WW2 in the trunk for these kind of situations... I was keeping my horn Chiruwa AK in there but when it got cold I was afraid the horn would crack.

I live in Shelby ...work in Charlotte.

Yep..small world!!

I still had to get a tow though....argh!

I spent a few years in rock hill not so long ago. Not a bad town, and charlottes so close. As for the tow, wuss ;)

I keep my Chiruwa AK with horn in the truck all the time, summer & winter for over a year now. No problems.

hey now.....my truck took a tow line in the center of gravity and one on eighter end to keep it from swinging into nearby trees.......That sucked but worked out...all for 50 bucks...and a slightly used Khukri!!

How'd I miss this thread, Brian?

I had no idea you had Khuks as well...

Welcome!

Dan

oh....you should have been there!!! I like my khukri but I didn't want to have to regrind the edge for nothing ;)!! I was still stick.....
But all is well that ends well...

Used (my nephew did :) ) my older AK blem to chop ice off the roof on the back addition, and it worked great. The CS tomahawk head came loose (time for epoxy, Cliff's recommend), but the AK worked better anyway.
Good idea above, I think I'll put the AK in the trunk for the rest of the winter.
