Hello everyone!

This is kinda weird. I've had past year a Nepalese Khukri with approximately 14" blade above my bed and during that time I haven't seen much or any weird dreams or nightmares much. A week ago I took my Khukri away from my Bed and placed it other room.

Next 5 nights I shaw completely distorted craziest, most disturbing dreams and nightmares per night. I took my Khukri back above my bed, nightmares and weird crazy dreams stopped and I sleep again like a baby.

Weird, my mind must be quite disturbed or then my Khukri really is a dreamcatcher.

I thought I should share this. Has anyone else have similar experiences?

What experience, thinking that your knife stops bad dreams or thinking your mind must be quite disturbed. :)

In India, when a child sees disturbing dreams and wakes up often scared, mothers keep a small knife under their pillow and it is supposed to relieve the child of scary dreams.

I have always believed that objects take on a certain essence of their maker and designer. One has to look no further than the history of the Kris, where legend holds that it would vibrate in the sheath when danger was near. The Kris was made by artisans who were Mystics as well.

Perhaps the warrior origins of the Khukri, act more as a dream 'chaser' rather than a catcher, to protect the owner from negativity. Of course, this all could be a symptom of psychosis known as 'magical thinking', but I prefer my explanation. ;)

I was of course, pulling your leg. Couldn't resist. ;) I think my Beretta 92FS on my night-stand keeps me from having bad, weird or scary dreams.

Yes, each kris is supposed to have a spirit and personality of its own. I once read something about them moving on their own or something, but figure that's just legend.

Well, hand crafted things such as blades are said to have their own spirit. Kukuri's in particular are noted for this. Have to wonder what kind of spirit mine have,I replaced the handles on almost all of them...

Very good article with resource links at Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreamcatcher

I've heard in a few places that Kukris have strong religious significance. Not sure if this helps...

Khukuris embody several aspects of Hinduism--Lord Shiva's protecting you when you keep yours nearby.

I am not sure what khukuri that is. It has nepalese writing on left side. I covered hardwood handle with tape grip and spend few hours sharpening and polishing it with 2000grt sand paper.

Is your kukri an H.I. kukri? I know that their kukri's are blessed before shipping.

a good lot of khuks made in Nepal are...I believe they hold a strong psychological power with those who know the history of them, I mean the Gurkha are still one of the most feared military group on the planet!

Similar experiences? I went camping in a state forest and didn't have my 1911 under my pillow. Heard something weird outside (two-legged) and didn't sleep as well. Back home and expecting a nice night's rest =)

I would have nightmares about that thing falling off the wall in the night and cutting my head off. I hope you have a really good mounting system.

I honestly would think if the Khukri, was made by hand, then a little bit of soul was absorbed into the knife, allowing it to fight for you, even when you do not realize.

Agree.

Actually, in many cultures like here in Asia for example, blades are said to deter spirits. If I remember my classical Greek mythology too, when Odysseus went down the underworld to look for a friend, he kept the other unwanted spirits at bay with his sword.

Spirits might be afraid of them because they focus our will and intent, kind of like how a samurai's spirit and his sword are one.

yep, the japanese said that a samurai's katana contained his soul, and frequently you see in japanese art a samurai killing a demon with his katana
