Hello been working on this KLO for a bit last night I got antsy and put a etch on it so I could see the pattern.
I thought some body here might enjoy seeing this progress right now I still have a 1/16" blunt edge to sand off as well as some other cleaning up and of course a handle, sheath ect.
The blade is ~13" long (handle length is yet to be determined, open to knowledgeable input) it's kind of thin (compared to what I had intended) at 3/16" to 7/32".
Was hand forged from a 2' long 1.25" cable that I chopped out the center core and filled with 1/2" ball bearings. I drew this billet out folded it over drew it out cut in 4 chunks restacked with some old leaf spring that my Grandfather had given me. This was drawn out folded and shaped as you see it in the link.

Looks good so far. I'd love to see it when you finish it. What kind of handle are you thinking of putting on it?

I have a chunk of iron wood that might be big enough to use for a "regular" Khuk shaped handle, if so that is my first choice. All I have to place in my hand /compare to is my HI Hanuman and that handle is larger then the bit of wood I have

Very pretty so far--graceful line.

Good luck with the rest. Should be a source of pride.

We have so much.

That's looking real nice, GS. Nice aloe, too.

Have you worked much with ironwood? I have some that I've been playing at making into a kitchen knife handle. When I try to shape it with a belt sander, it burns the wood. Any alternatives to filing?

I have done zero work with Iron wood , was hopeing that I could put the chunk in the mill and slot it to set the tang in from the top? band saw with some extra length to put in the lathe turn to shape, cut off extra length. stop and learn more then go on.
This whole project is like that for me (my third blade)
I hope it cuts with a end mill instead of burning the cutter.

Any body want to ring it with experience?
