This is my knife collection mounted on the wall to my old room in Al Taqaddum, Iraq. Most of these blades were worn on missions outside the wire. The exceptions being the Case Bowie and the V-42 that I purchased from Brigade Quartermaster.
Most of these blades were purchased online and shipped to Iraq. Customs would not allow me to bring the double edged knives home in my dufflebag with me at the end of our deployment, but I was able to mail them home.
The V-42 was given to another soldier that volunteered for an extended tour of duty.

Vintage 8" Bowie knife with stag handle, the blade is marked R. W. Weber and Solingen, GR. I had Blade-Tech make a kydex scabbard for it to work with my MOLLE gear attachments. I wore this blade on alot of missions. You can see it with another knife next to my M4 carbine and SAW on the weapons cleaning table.

This is another custom knife, but I can't remember the name of the fellow who made it. I wore this knife everyday in the manner that you see here. It was concealed when my ACU top was worn and it allowed a very fast crossdraw, even when wearing full battle rattle.

This Case XX Bowie knife was a Christmas present to myself. I never did wear it as my squad leader at the time did not believe in large knives. Later, I got another squad leader that allowed me to wear the large knives, but then I got my custom Bowie. Now that I am home, the Case XX Bowie will likely be traded away when I go to the Washington Arms Collectors gunshow in October.

Sweet collection! I love that vintage stag bowie!

Just a guess though, but is that custom a Okuden piece?

Watch your 6!

The small knife does say Okuden, but I can't remember the name of the bladesmith. He was a friend of Kelly Worden, a martial arts instructor that I took lessons from to get ready for the deployment.

If one is going to carry a fighting knife, then he should learn to use it IMO.

I did not get to carry the Case Bowie, my squad leader said "I am not letting you carry that sword". Later on we got another squad leader and he was ok with the big knives, but I had the custom Bowie knife then and I carried it rather than the Case Bowie.

To answer the question, we rode everywhere in guntrucks. So the only bothersome weight was from the body armor that we had to wear.

^ Good to hear!

Ha! (Pats himself on back for a correct knife ID :)) I believe his name is Brian Wagner. I read about him from an issue of Tac. Knives some years back. I liked his unique designs since they not only looked utilitarian but seem "fast" in the hand as well (no doubt influenced by his martial arts background) and being of A2 tool steel to boot!

Nice collection you got going there.....Thanks for your service....
