My knife obsession!

I spend way to much money on knives. I had to open a separate bank account, get a secret debit card, and deposit cash made on side jobs to keep my purchases private. I'll discover a knife that I like by looking at every single website out there, even sites in asia that aren't even available in English. Once I find one I like I'll search every review and video or still image out there until I finally break down and buy it. I rationalize the purchase by calling it "an investment" or "a tool" that I needed. I love my collection, but I'm thinking that I may have some sort of brain disorder that forces me to do these things. I guess it's better than spending money on Liquor or drugs, I do have something to show for the 1000's Iv'e spent...Right?

What's with the covert operations? My family knows about my problem.

p.s. Just for your own sanity, don't consider it an investment.

Addiction. The first three letters sort of sum it up in a brilliant but simple way. Your collection is likely to swell, especially now that there is the dreaded clandestine element to deal with...not to worry though, you'll find sympathy here in droves. Like I have said in the past, there are a lot of addicts here. What this place is, is a sector where we can 'try to manage' our ocd behaviors and such. The cutlery bug is more devious and dangerous than any beer/wine habit and a great deal more costly!

Its definitely is better than buying drugs and alcohol, I used to spend all my money on that crap. Now I buy knives and guns with my money and I have something tangible to show for it. Besides the Knives and guns hold their value, were you are basically killing yourself and throwing your money away with drugs.

Haha, just got this new knife obsession thing last week and already have (mostly still en route): BM 470, 710, 940, 806 and, for the wife, a yellow mini griptilian.

What kind a sicko would say something like that? You might have a problem. The OP on the other hand seems completely normal.

:D

hiding it from your wife and opening separate checking accounts is normal? thats kinda " sicko". ive never done that. plus i spend as much on 5 knives than most people on here do on 1.

You know you are obsessed when you start thinking "I could have bought a nice knife with that money" everytime you make any type of significant purchase or payment. That was what I was thinking the other day when I took my dog to the vet and got hit with a $200 bill. She is a loyal, affectionate and protective, and I wouldn't trade her for 2 Sabenzas! Luckily, I will never be put to the test. :D

Dont beat yourself up about it. EVERY MAN MUST HAVE A VICE. Enyoy it, but you must remain the MASTER. Welcome to the club. Have fun Faron.

The less people know the better, I guess? I'm pretty sure 99% of the people on here have this problem.

I'm one of the 99%....borderline OCD knife disorder. Yes, my family knows...although if they knew how bad it REALLY was...they might organize some sort of intervention.

Hey bro I understand!!! I'm the same way minus the secret account, I try not to hide anything from my wife. Just keep in mind that priority's come first. That's my two cents.

Put in an order for a Kershaw Groove and a Leek. The day after placing the order, I order another Spyderco Tenacious. Day after that order, I am eyeing up the Benchmade 275 Adamas, the CSK II, and the ZT 301. It's a love hate relationship with my knives.

hiding it from your wife and opening separate checking accounts is normal?

That's a wife problem, not a knife problem. And that's pretty far outside the the scope of this forum. :)

Personally, I don't have to hide anything from my wife because she doesn't care, and because money in my checking account is mine.
Beats me what women do with their money. Clothes and hair and such I guess...
