Hi folks...
I have seen guys do this before-and I think its great...I like mulling through their collection...as if you are sitting in their home-and they invite you to have a look over...so...
Im inviting you in..and please have a look at my knives...if there is anyone I would like to show-its you guys,...but please be warned...these knives are not what you see in here as in the top quality...I just havent been able to afford those-one day maybe eh? ;)
Please forgive the Mineral oil spotting - it may look like pitting on the blade-not so :)
I will give you a run down on them as we go through...hope you enjoy them.
Thanks for looking,
Duncan.

My beloved Queens...I still love to bits the ol' girl...still my favourite queen by far.

My huge Schrade collection :-), both unused cond-v.nice!

You may have seen me mention these two knives in the past, now these are NOT collectable in any way-but to me absolutely precious..and in a house fire-THESE two get saved before any others...heres why.....the German one is my dead friend Gary's, it was his dads...Gary bought it down for me to look at-I was going to oil it up and carefully clean it-I never got to give it back to him , the other knife- an Imperial Wildcat...it was my only brother who died very tragically quite some time ago,..again a terribly cheap knife..but I remember seeing it in Andy's bedroom, when I was 9 or so..and he let me hold it..I wanted it so bad, I wish I didnt have it under these circumstances...but here it is..

A little beauty..1860's Bowie knife-with awesome etched blade-I put a thread up on this a while ago, accompanied by very well made picnic folders..these were put up in Bernards forum a while ago as well.

My early '80's Al Mar ...whew...I find it hard to describe this awesome knife-the knife, and sheath are in incredible condition..
With it is a very hard to find 13" Olsen...plenty of the smaller sizes...but havent seen another of this guy, and it is correct!...
Picture042-1.jpg

A 13 inch William Rodgers,...this is a real nice knife-in fantastic cindition...I love that ol' girl!, also with it is an 60's I*xl-great Stag, the smaller is a William Rodgers as well..
Picture044-1.jpg

A D.H.Rusell Canadian Knife, along with what I think is a real nice old skinner-this knife is 5 pinned-with small tidy pins, the knife is tapered both ways-as in down the tang length-ways, but also from top of spine down as well...a very well made old skinner.

An early Marbles safety knife - wagon wheel version, the blade has been over sharpened, and pitted-still it is what it is :-)

Two very old Sheffields, the Ivory handled one was put up in wellingtons ( Mick ) long running & awesome thread, a nice knife - has its issues, 1870's is correct , ....the other is a beat up old WRAGG that has that name and 70 Charles st, Sheffield stamped on both blades-fancy bolsters...I just cant find it in me to pass this old thing on-sad isnt it.

I have a few others... they are a nice little Wade & Butcher pearl folder, a 1884 - 1994 com. Victornox, and a few german folders to boot...hope you liked the show guys, thanks very much for looking, I feel a little shy about putting these up- realising that the collections here are quite mind blowing...but its all I have right now...and some of those knives do it for me...i certainly hope there were maybe just a few that interested you :-)

Nice collection! Lots of variation there to keep it interesting.

Which are your most common carrying knives?

Rob
At work, I carry ( block your ears and eyes traditional guys ) a kershaw mini mojo-great knife that gets used well ...EDIT...the reason I use this is because-as much as I like it-I work with paints, hardeners etc all day-and there is a risk that the Kershaw may get some on-ok, but It would NOT be ok for my Traditionals to get harmed, weekends...is traditional time & I rotate the folders, the Queens I use a lot, just got the bigger one-so thats in my pocket now-but I do baby the older one.
Also (although it is unused)...I have started carrying the Schrade 1940T, man..they are great knives arent they!
The Klotzli will be with me a lot from now on as well...I am starting to get bugged by those scratch marks though! -but I just hate the thought of cleaning the blade.

jo-bob, Corey, Ed, and Dennis - thanks for the comments, greatly appreciated

thanks for sharing your collection duncan. what a treat.... every single one
i really like that french locking blade and the etched bowie.

Thanks a lot for the show, Duncan; I am quite unfamiliar with many of those. You need apologize for nothing. Value is subjective and linked to pleasure more than to trade-in value, in my opinion. Btw, I really like that Russell Canadian knife. I had a cheap knockoff one by Herters back in the 60's. A great design if you like that sort of thing.

Some really unusual and interesting pieces there. That French lockback is really different! We are lucky to see them, thanks:thumbup:

Thanks for showing us your knives Duncan, very nicely photographed, interesting and varied, folders inc that super ivory sports, lots of larger stuff swing guards, hunters, skinners, Bowies and that wonderful looking French lockback, a collection to be proud of.

Enjoyed seeing all .

I'd say you have every eventuality covered, and nicely, at that! Thanks for the show.

Great collection of knives, thank you for sharing. Old knives deserve the respect and admiration Orientals afford their elders.

Thanks for the visit, Duncan! You have some great knives in your collection.
I admire your taste in older folders especially!
(But you knew that!)

We collect what we love, that is what it is all about. Great photos and there is a knife there for everyone. Thanks for sharing.
