Hi!

Did this some time ago (8-10 weeks) and i was sceptical at first but i has held up really well.
I like the handfilling much better then just the steel handle.
What do you guys think?

Alright Jonas...

First of all, if you take a few more pics/scans and show me how to do the fancy cord wrap you did on the LaGriffe...I will clue you into the "Ancient Chinese Secrets" of the Monkey Fist Knot and how you can use this on a knife for faster deployment. AHEM.

Next, my Swedish friend, you have busted me out on the Modified CQC-7 with Personally Customized Wave Opener.

What bit did you use on the Dremel and what procedure?

I was going to use a triangular chainsaw file to open the Wave up, then a very small round file to really open it up.

Spare no detail as you have preempted me now...I was saving this "surprise" in the next 2 months for The Suspects you see, for I have a line on not ONE, but TWO, MINT Condition Benchmade CQC-7s...

"HA HA!" You say? "Damn you Suspects," I say back! I laugh in your face and piddle in your breakfast cereal!

The Benchmade CQC-7, you see, is the finest Benchmade liner locking folder ever produced. [You will notice I did not include BaliSongs as they are excellent but different] Benchmade has never, in my opinion, made a liner locking folder as tough and reliable as the E.E. CQC-7. That is not said because I am, "A Usual Suspect," it is simply the truth as I see it.

For you see, the TWO, MINTY-FRESH Benchmade CQC-7s are one LARGE and one SMALL.

And they are BOTH LEFT-HANDED and BLACK BLADED.

They are being held in limbo for me by a very close friend who is a Knife Dealer, two lefty CQC-7s, one large and one small, when I am done, they will be Waved.

heh heh heh

Maniacal laughter follows.

Hi Don!
Shouldn't you be asleep??

I followed the directions here: http://www.geocities.com/ralfh.geo/Strider.html (at the bottom of the page, slllooww loading) you get those for free, i know that monkey fist already...

I used a grinding wheel on the Dremel and just got down to it, went really fast and was very easy, finished off the edges with a small diamond file. You should have no problems in doing this.

As you're quite obnoxious in the "i'm-getting-BM-'7's" i'd like to take the not-so-common opportunity to piss in your cornflakes
wink.gif
the Benchmade version is tip down...you'll have to move the clip on'em.
Who's laughing now??

I have now placed an umbrella over my cereal bowl and await your stream with glee.

I can have the CQC-7s tapped...and the clips moved. That's what Machinists and Gunsmiths are for.

You must remember, tip up is pommel mounted clip...very easy...

Bwah hahahahahahahahahahaha

Jonas,

THANKS for the link! Very cool and the LaGriffe looks very cool as well!

I am thinking about picking up some more 3mm Kernmantle Cord as I prefer this to 550 ParaCord, it feels better, it's tougher and has a better memory when tying things like Monkey Fists and whatnot. WhatKNOT...hmm...OK.

The 3MikeMike Cord should be very cool on the LaGriffe and a few other applications as well using the Stryder Wrap!

LMFAO!! "Piss in your cornflakes"?! OK, who hid Don's medication???

I have no medication! (Hmm...might be part of the problem)

I am just very happy at the potential for having TWO Lefty CQC-7s, one of them being the BIGGY with WAVES.

SO, as someone coined the phrase around here, W.A.V.E. "Wave Addiction Via Emerson," you only have Ernie E. to blame.

In the final analysis of this particular very funny thread, even if I could not find someone to drill and tap to remount the pocket clips on the Benchmade CQC-7s, it matters not. I would simply remove the pocket clips and put a "Hangman's Noose" Knot type lanyard or a very short Monkey Fist Knot lanyard on them and carry them in back pocket or jacket pocket. They are still going to have a Wave Opening...

Moohoohwahahahahahahahahaha...

2sharp

I tried looking up the page of how to do the Strider wrap but it doesn't come up any longer. IIRC it was a little bit more detailed than what they have on the Stider forum.

Do you, or anybody knows where I can see this page again? I'm trying something and need some help on wrapping.

Thanks
Ross T.

Ok maybe "More detailed" is the wrong words I'm looking for.

Specifically on direction #2 and #4 it shows a second piece of chord going around the handle. You can see it here:

http://www.striderknives.com/html/handlerapping.html

What I would like to know is how is that peice of of chord secured once you get to the bottom of the handle? How about the top, how is it secured there?

2sharp I'm thinking you didn't have to do that with the La Griffe? Maybe I should ask this over there on the Strider forum.

If anyone has any insight it would be appreciated.

Thanks
Ross T.

Hey Troll Magnet,

Did you get your non-Emerson, non-production, south-paw CQC7 knives? Have you managed to attack them with the Dremel? We of the Suspects need to know these things.

Do you think the goat would go for a non-Emerson knife?

Regards,

Ed

ROSAGNHAL,
I agree. I have wondered about this ever since these pics appeared in the Japanese mag KNIFE. I am going to ask at Strider Forums.

possibly, ed. keep in mind, it is ernie designed, so its a possibility...bring a waved emerson cqc7, just in case
