My Lake Cachuma Record Trout

I caught this lunker while bass fishing from shore on a soft plastic Zoom "brush hog" lure. He weighed 15lbs and beat the old record from the 60's by a half pound! Lake Cachuma in Santa Barbara county, California.

Wow! That is a major trophy. Do you think the extreme low water levels helped? I wonder if it concentrates the fish more, making them easier to catch.

Yes I think the low water helped with my catch but it was also a lot of luck! I hope we get some rain this winter because the bass fishing has been horrible!

I caught it on a cheap spinning combo,12 lb test line, and a zoom brush hog was my lure, Texas rigged.

Unfortunately she was almost dead by the time I landed her so I ate it.
