Here is the last one from me for 2010. Went to it's new owner just before Christmas. The blade is 5 1/4" of 1080 and 15N20 at 396 layers in a starburst pattern, same layer count in the guard, and a really nice ironwood handle. The sheath is made by Larry Parsons. I wish everyone a great 2011.

you ended the year with a bang! (or should I say 'starburst':D)

Looking great!

Are those damascus pins I see? If so how did you etch them?

Very nice knife and damacus.

Thanks for showing it.

Looks really nice Brion, I bet the new owner had a Merry Christmas with that beauty under the tree.
I sure hope the weather cooperates in Febuary so we can all get to Little Rock, we really like that show and enjoy seeing everyone, helps dealing with these long winters too. See you there.

Thank you all for the comments. Actually Kyle the pins are nickel silver which I then colored with brass black and sealed. I thought about damascus pins but went with this instead. The bright look of the pins did not match well with the guard and blade, so darken them to bring the package together. Gary and Bill we look forward to seeing you there. Thank you all again.

OK! The pins sure look great with the damascus guard and blade. Thanks for the explanation.

See you in Little Rock.

Very nice Brion! :) Always love seeing your work posted.

Kyle- I made a bowie once with a damascus pin. I finished it off, took it out and etched the ends, then epoxied it back in place. It ended up being impossible to get it back to exactly where it was originally as the handle was sculpted a little... never tried that again. :o (I'm sure if the handle was flat it wouldn't be such an issue).
