This one should make you carbon guys happy, my brand spanking new GEC M-73 Scout in what they call chocolate bone with 1095 steel. I would call this bone caramel bone.

This is just a first impression kind of thing with my first ever GEC which I've been dieing to try ever since they started out. They have so many of my favorite patterns it has been hard to decide which one I really wanted! The fit and finish is as good as any Shatt & Morgan or Queen Classic I've seen just about as perfect as a factory slippy is likely to be! The walk and talk with good half stops is on the heavy and smooth side just the way I like it, really outstanding! I had wanted one of those S&M Swaybelly Trappers when they were out but I never aquired the money before they all dried up. To me this is the next better thing, and man it sure fills good to my hand! Normally I prefer this pattern with no bolster on the butt end, but after looking at this one for a while I just had to try it.

I really like the way the knife was packaged and the smell in the round box and the knife is soooo good! The shipping grease that makes for that wonderful smell makes for a dirty knife. My cleaning rag is now filthy and in need of replacment! At this early point I couldn't be happier with this purchase:thumbup:!

I recently got one of GEC's Northfield easy openers, and have to agree 100% it is really nicely done, and I can be pretty particular!

I think you made a good choice.

I have a single-blade version, bare head (no butt bolster) and there are slight gaps between the scales and the spacers at the butt.

It also came with a bit of balde wobble so I returned it for service; they got the blade just right but the gaps are still there and that bothers me.

I'll probably just fix it myself but I cannot help but think they are a bit overly cautious when it comes to peening those pins down on bare bone.

Mine is tractor-red, BTW; gaps or not, I love it!
