Here's my latest sheath. A no-frills scout carry sheath for my ESEE 3.

Frustrated because I didn't realize I was one snap short. That's the last thing I have to do and am one short of finishing it up. Oh well, guess I'll pay tandy a visit. Problem is, I can't just walk out of there with only one bag of snaps.

I feel your pain brother! I cant get out with anything near the list I came in with! :D

Too many new toys and that godforsaken clearance table!! DOH!

Yep, Dwayne. And one of the SA stores took my manager (from Round Rock) too. :grumpy: :D

As far as I know we have only one Tandy here, and it goes through managers at an alarming rate. I finally gave up and went back to the across town Leather Factory because the manager there has been there since I came here in 2001 and has been very good to us and never disappoints. Literally, how can anyone be that good?

As the Tandy here goes, its location location location. Its on a bad side of town but so close its silly to not go there for little last minute items.

Feel the pain. Usually with me its buckles. I need 6 of one kind and have 5 or something. Right now I have a similar problem. Have to use a stainless buckle on a flapped rifle scabbard for the closure of the flap, per customer request. On the saddle attachment straps I've always used brass 3/4" roller buckles. I'll have to go dig around but I doubt I have any 3/4" stainless buckles. Must dig deeper. Nice work on the sheath.

There's supposed to be 2 in SA. One on Walzem Rd, which is where Dee is the manager and another one on something called Mobud, just east of the NE intersection of 410 and 35. Back in the 80s when I was stationed at Kelly AFB (yep, I got Navy shore duty at an AFB:D), the Walzem store wasn't there but there was another one over near the mall on 410 that has/had the big boots out front.

Yep, exactly right. The store on Walzem is the little classic Tandy configuration. They did move from the strip mall out to a block of stores closer to the road and bigger as well. Much easier to navigate.

The store on Mobud is a traditional "The Leather Factory" Much larger format and much better for those like me who enjoy digging through the piles of leather to find one or two that fit my requirements.

Dee is good people. She worked at Tandy Headquarters in Ft Worth for several years before moving to Round Rock to open the store there. She was frequently out and about going to schools/businesses and such drumming up interest/business in leather working. Hopefully, she'll improve the Walzem store.
