Bruce, your bowies look better every time you make a new one. Beautiful damascus too, what steels did you use?

Thanks For the kind words..
The steel in this Bowie is really a little bit of everything. It is cut off ends and scraps from other Damascus with pieces of spring s amd wrenches and parts from a hammer and a gun barrel and just anything I had laying around the bench that was left over from other pieces of Damascus that I had made. That is why i call iit Frontier Style.Just like in the old days when the aprentice would weld up all the scraps from the day and make a bar of steel to be used later. It gives a really cool pattern and you never know exactly how it will turn out. When you have pieces of other Damascus ranging from 40 layers up to 300 layers or more, you get some cool patterns and designs..
This is all carbon steels and no mild steel gets put in the mix either..

This may well be my favorite that you have done (at least of the ones I have seen). The pins look great on that handle and the long slim blade makes for a great fighting profile. So wasn't there a thread awhile back in the Shop forum trying to think of a name for that kind of damascus? I have heard of a term called Frontier Damascus and wonder if that is the term used for damascus made from all the scraps you have lying around?

This really is a wonderful bowie.

Yes we were talking about it in teh shop talk forums.I had decided to give this style of Damascus a cool name and Frontier Style was what I settled on...Thought it sounded better than Scrap or Junk Damascus or even recycled Damascus..

Bruce-

That piece is stunning! The lines are beautifully flowing and graceful...and I love your dyed bone with that damascus... Way cool! :)
