On a recent buying/selling trip to Kenia Alaska, I left Fairbanks with a load of moose, caribou and elk antler, and some mammoth bone. The plan was to sell and trade antler along the way, deliver a custom hole saw to a customer in Kenia and attend an NRA banquet in Kenia where I had donated a knife. I was going have a look at some forge equipment that a friend was wanting to sell and hopefully pick up some ivory along the way. Here's the forge equipment I ended up with. I got a foot vise (not sure of the proper name, as you can see it has a foot pedal that closes the vise, that will come in handy) I got a swedge block and a "whiches hat" for forming round rings. My buddy, the one in an earlier thread with the lobster, would not accept any money for the forge stuff, so now I gotta think of something nice for him. What do you think of my new forge stuff?

Any new tool looks good too me. They look heavy duty....

Hey mate, good score. One of those cone anvils went for $1100 at an auction over here just recently

Mark that is some nice stuff the cone is a good one dose it have a slot running up the back side. that would make it even better the slot gives you a way to start the bend on the rings. The vice is a vice used for upsetting

No slot in this one, I especially like the vise for the hands-free thing, it also has a spike-heading feature.

What does the swedge block do?

A swedge block is for forming particular shapes in metal, all 6 sides have different shapes and sizes of forms, like half rounds, bowl shapes, hexes and rectangles, the complete set-up would have had hardy posts that allow you to do more.

We (Bob Hook and I) are pretty excited to have these in our forge, I will post some pictures of the whole set-up after I...uh..clean it up a little.
