Hey guys,

I made this knife for my daughter off my original Dog Tag knife. I call this one "TRAK" - Titanium Runner's Anywhere Knife.

My daughter has recently taken up walking and running around our neighborhood. At first, I wanted to get her a small frame .380 or maybe a pit bull...But then I started thinking that a small knife that was easy to carry and lightweight might be more practical. And...she might actually carry it. I was also worried about her carrying something that could be dropped in a panic and then used against her. So this is what I came up with.

Titanium 6AL4V, .5oz, about the size of a dog tag. Still needs some work, but here it is. Hope you like it!

My wife and I are both runners and I've carried a small folding knife before, but I like this idea even better.

More practical for self defense? How is it intended to be used?
I like the design and execution for the practicality of a tiny backup cutting tool or shop knife.

nifty little knife you got there! I like it a lot, actually. it's something a potential attacker would not expect to have coming at them in that moment, that's for sure.

Hey Park,

It's designed to slash any vital area of choosing and then get away. Yes, it's a great little utility knife as well for everyday chores, but the inspiration was something lightweight for my daughter when out running. I carry one on my keys and use it all the time.

Thanks!

I like it. Now if you can figure out how to secure it in a way that allows it to be worn as a fashionable accessory (ditch the kydex) it'll sell well I'd bet. Especially when combined with titanium's aesthetic versatility

I'd need a way to wear it comfortably on my wrist. Have never been able to tolerate something hanging around my neck.

I'm open to suggestions. I've been trying to avoid using Kydex, but just can't seem to come up with a good solution. I've toyed with Micarta, but retention is an issue. Throw some ideas at me...

This will be difficult to articulate, but the only thing I can think of is a mounting base/plate with a central plug using ball detent retention. Like a socket wrench.

If you allow the butt of the "handle" to overhang a bit you can place your index finger on the "plug" which fits through the hole in the knife and pry outward on the butt of the handle to release the knife while maintaining the quick access and natural indexing required for its intended purpose.

It's not as cost effective as kydex for sure, but it'd certainly be more attractive.

Interesting...have to go and think about this for a while...

Thanks!
