My latest fixed blade w file work

I had not previously tried any vine file work so I thought I'd give it a shot on this one. I also tried an "S" on the brass spacer (I'm giving this one to a friend who's last name begins with an "S").

I made a couple of modifications to the original blank I'd purchased... it had the brass guard and a brass butt end piece which I didn't like so I took off the butt piece.

The wood is Desert Iron wood and the green band is Malachite.

I still have some fit and finish issues to work on, but that's part of the fun I suppose... seeing where you need improvement and working at it.

I do find that I learn something new with every project and that in itself is encouraging.

I have a full length piece of leaf spring in my shop thats going to be my first try at making my own blank... I'll be "attacking" it soon.

Well, I think of little Ralphie in the movie A CHRISTMAS STORY, when he's daydreaming about how much his teacher loves his report on wanting a "Red Ryder BB Gun with a compass in the stock" when I look at this piece. In his fantasy she gives him "A+, A+, A+,+,+,+,+."

I absolutely love all of it. Great work.
