This is the latest fixed blade I've made. I bought the blade from a blacksmith and made the rest. I'm exited about going outside and using it now.

I put a GEC 85 next to it so you could get an idea of the size.

The light dances around in the wood when I twist and turn it.

It's from a burl on a birch.

wittwo, are you asking about the blade steel? It's some kind of tool steel I think, I don't remember the name. It's not possible to see in the picture, but it's laminated.

Nice work Sogflash! The strange thing is that I have been wanting to make some knife stuff lately too.

I have this favorite book that I check out from my local library that is by Bo Bergman. He makes some nice knives and sheaths, some of which are from laminated Mora blades. On the down side, last time I looked this book up to buy, the used ones were running around $42. Great book though, if you can get your hands on one :D

I thought I'd take some pictures for reference. There is a portion in the center where some color photos were taken of some of his knifes. Hopefully this doesn't infringe on any copyrights and junk.

Beautiful piece! The burl really sets it off. Has a Scandinavian look to it, but also looks Japanese a little bit.

How does it cut?

That might be because I live in Scandinavia. I looked at other traditional fixed blades for a while, even asked you on the forum for inspiration. Then I made it with the inspiration in the back of my mind, and made the rest on the go.

I haven't taken it to the woods yet, but the blade is almost identical to another knife I've made and it cuts wood very well. Holds an edge surprisingly long.

I've been liking knives since I was a little kid, but when I realized I could make my own knives it became even more fun. It's just the next step for a knife enthusiast.

Wow... that´s an impressive work. thanks for sharing. The grain of the wood looks really great.
