I made this one today, like my other stuff, it's made from a carpenters flat bar. The blades about 5". It stll needs some fit and finish, and handles of course. I think its time to move up and buy some good steel, what do you think? I ground the shape on a grinder and hand filed it flat-ground, leaving about 1/16 or so to go. Then I went to the vertical sander and but a slight convex to finish the blade. I played around with the spine, a little file work, a little sloppy really, but It's my 5th knife. I threw it in tongs and put a torch to it, when it started to go critical, ran the edge in SW30. Buiding on the cheap right now.. All in all, doing it all by eye, I think its OK. Gene

Good job Geno, can't wait to see the finished product!!!!!!!

Micarta scales??????????

Naw, not micarta, spruce it up a bit and get some nice walnut or ironwood. Personally I think micarta cheapens the look even if it does add stability and the 3d effect.

Ironwood or something swirly...I'll know when I see it. I have some tigerwood from brazil, its nice but on the soft side, just might try it out to see what it looks like. Gene
