Thought I'd post my latest creation, a christmas present for my mom. This is a small paring knife for my knife-sloppy mother to learn how to use a "proper" knife
. She has some low to medium quality kitchen knives that really aren't that much joy to work with so I have used my own knives when preparing food.
So here we go: The blade is 7,5cm (3") long, made from an old circular saw blade, that said in german it was chrome vanadium steel. (Anyone know if this "Cr-V"-steel is good for knives?) The edge is full convex ground and really, really sharp. Handle is 12 year-dried juniper with hollow stainless pins. Two-part epoxy holds the pins in place. Sorry for the bad pictures.
Oh, and a part of her present is that I sharpened all her kitchen knives, so they no more are such a pain to work with.
Thanks for looking.
